It was basically a repeat of the last IDL, where I mentioned the issue....They are working on it, and doing everything they can to make sure it works like they wanted it to do, and the quality is there. And to do everything they can to get it in place before the cars get shipped out to customers. But they cannot guarantee it.

For "World wide" distribution. This is a "world" car and I beleive it has right hand drive capabilities too making it easy to sell over seas. Just like the ZR1 was to be 2,000 for world wide with 1,200 for U.S. dealers. Now we are over half way through the 09 model year with 613 total built and nearly 1/3 exported.

Ut-Oh.........You know what this reminds me of........

Jerry: Seinfeld. I made a reservation for a mid-size, and she's a small. I'm
kidding around, of course.

Agent: Okay, let's see here.

Agent: I'm sorry, we have no mid-size available at the moment.

Jerry: I don't understand, I made a reservation, do you have my reservation?

Agent: Yes, we do, unfortunately we ran out of cars.

Jerry: But the reservation keeps the car here. That's why you have the
reservation.

Agent: I know why we have reservations.

Jerry: I don't think you do. If you did, I'd have a car. See, you know how to
take the reservation, you just don't know how to *hold* the reservation and
that's really the most important part of the reservation, the holding. Anybody
can just take them.

Agent: Let me, uh, speak with my supervisor.

The agent goes into an office with a window in the door so she can be seen
speaking with someone.

Jerry: Uh, here we go. The supervisor. You know what she's saying over there?

Elaine: What?

Jerry: Hey Marge, you see those two people over there? They think I'm talking
to you, so you pretend like you're talking to me, okay now you start talking.

Elaine: Oh, you mean like this? So it looks like I'm saying something but I'm
not really saying anything at all?

Jerry: Now you say something else and they won't yell at me 'cause they thought
I was checking with you.

Elaine: Okay, that's it. I think that's enough, see you later.

The agent returns.

Agent: I'm sorry, my supervisor says there's nothing we can do.

Jerry: Yeah, it looked as if you were in a real conversation over there.

Agent: But we do have a compact if you would like that.

Jerry: Fine.

Agent: Alright. We have a blue Ford Escort for you Mr. Seinfeld. Would you
like insurance?

Jerry: Yeah, you better give me the insurance, because I am gonna beat the hell
out of this car.

------------------------------------------------------

Or,

Me: I pre-ordered an V8 SS2/RS Camaro 6 months ago.

Chevy: Here are the keys to your V6 LT Camaro.

Me: What? I ordered a V8?

Chevy: We just spoke to our suppliers and to congress. All we can give you is a V6.

Me: WTF?

Yeah, but will I get the V8 I wanted or will GM try to force a V6 on me?

did you not just read that it said the incentives that are out at the time are the incentives that are going to also be available to the camaro.

True, but make sure your dealer honors those discounts...

Someone called me and said one dealer they talked to said they'd honor the discounts, with a $5000 mark up on the car!

I think I had to skip a page or two in this thread because I was starting to get a headache. I was going to quote a bunch of people, but let me just free form.

1. To all those people that thought they were going to have their car in March or April, I am sorry, but I told you so. I said it time and time again in various threads that people were setting themselves up for crushed expectations. I feel bad for those folks who have a lease up or are coming back from overseas or whatever.

2. To GM, I think there is a valuable lesson to be learned here. Share key information critical to customers DIRECTLY with the customers. This whole deal about pre-ordered and V8/V6 allocation split is nuts. If they knew they could only produce a 50/50 split, they should have told us that up front, at least for those folks pre-ordering. Many of us signed up for more information from the Camaro site and have gotten nothing. I would have been more than happy to tell them that I wanted a V8 in order to help them plan better ahead of time. I even completed that stupid initial survey on features and accessories. I am not mad or unhappy, but I can see why many people would be and I don't blame anyone for their anger.

3. I still think that GM could be more open with the enthusiasts like us. I feel a little taken advantage of by the whole pre-ordering process. If they wanted to conduct a marketing study, just call it that and don't get my hopes up.

4. I still plan on keeping my order in place. I am not cancelling or anything at this point. I don't need a new car. I want a Camaro. It just means more time for me to save money.

I hope that everyone comes to peace with the information released today. I hope that we have all learned something and that includes GM. Take a deep breath and try to just relax for a minute before jumping to any concrete conclusion. To anyone listening from GM, treat us like enthusiasts, not idiots.

This is a gimmie from GM and does not go against their allocation. Other cars that follow will be based on dealer consensus and allocation on a monthly basis.

Well isn't that just F###### great, I preordered my 2ss and waited all this time to find out some dweeb could walk into the dealership in late april and drive out with a 6cyl while I continue to wait. Won't that be nice to see those camaros tooling around waving to all the gawkers wanting a close look at the new camaro... Man.... I'm just venting

well thats pointless.

so let me ge tthis strait.....after watching that video, what i got out of it is that basically ,the order we placed possibly isnt going to be made because they want ot populate the dealerships with v6 models?
wouldnt it make more sense and MONEY for GM if they were to sell the SOLD orders that we have already placed? why sit v6 models out on lots when clearly people want the V8 over the v6? this is going to cause alot of problems. i feel like ive been scammed. this almost makes me want to just go out and buy something else. im very disapointed if i am reading this right.
help clear this up for me if i missed something or misinerpreted it.

I am lost, what did that list mean, when it showed the LT, the 2LT rally yellow, and then the 2LT RS, does that mean those are the ones being built first, wtf, im pissed, im soo confused. Does the dealer choose which orders he gets to put in?

I guess I can finally post after being caught up to speed of 21 pages of OH SHIT!!!! One of the first things the IDL vid that was posted said is the 10k preorders would take up the first 3 months of production. You will get your cars v6/v8's this year. Im sure just about most dealers have already blown through all of their allocation orders. I think part of the delay may have been GM's OH SHIT factor of we just got 10k preorders we had better get our shit together and pdq. They knew they had a hit just didnt think the inital turn out was going to be this big. Your cars will come this year just as Fbodfather says....HAVE FAITH. Gm is not out to screw us or themselves. I think they see a trend and this may be another part of the delay is numbers adjustments of model numbers. This is just another sky is falling thread. Yes there are some setbacks but those are to be expected when you get a brand new car.
