So they were working on the 5.0 before the 4-valve, GT 5.4, Cobra R 5.4, three valve, and whatever other variants that I've forgotten? Sure. 5.0 has been in development for a decade

wasn't the 5.0 released earlier than ford wanted because of Camaro sales? I still wonder why they would redesign the body and then one year later release an all new engine. I'm sure that made more than a few 2010 Mustang buyers fell shafted

From looking at the hood design and to some degree the facia, I hope that this is not going to be considerd as a serious option. I fully understand that this is only the desgin test phase for the Z28 but this needs more work and exploration. I really liked the artists' concept that came out last year (attached). The hood design would allow for direct airflow into the engine compartment, which if combined with a dispersal system under the hood would help to keep the engine bay cooler. The front facia on this desgin still needs some work, but I think that this would be a great look for the Z28.

Testing results by pro drivers for magazines and the internet don't mean much to me. I test drove 2 new 5.0 GT's before I ordered my Camaro, I can assure you that in my opinion I did not buy the faster car, I bought the better looking, better handling car. The Mustang definitely felt like it got off the line quicker, accelerated quicker, and shifted better. GM really is only back in the Camaro game, performance has been there all along with the Vettes and they easily could make the Camaro destroy the Mustang if they wanted to......they haven't yet. |

I have no idea when they originally came up with the design, I did believe it was well before the current Camaro but, perhaps it was along the same timeline if the Camaro was truly to be a reality in '06 and not just a teaser to gauge interest. |

They intended for it to be released with the update and it didn't make it for whatever reason. I can easily imagine how painful that has been to not only the 2010 GT purchasers but, also Ford, as if you noticed they had to have very deep discounts on whatever '10 GT's were still on dealer lots when the '11 GT was coming out that I doubt they made very much off of them and it really seems to be their only stumble, although a big one, in the current ponycar war. |

Those are probably just placeholders similar in size and weight to what the Z28 will actually come with.
