Didn't you watch the video? The V6 demand is the heart and soul of the new camaro.... the very essence of why they brough it back.

V8's are just an inconvenience to them.

If the total number of preordered V8's stay under this amount, they will be delivered before the end of the allocation. So far only 11,000 preorders have been submitted. At a 80/20 split that's 8,800 V8's, 1,200 less then what they can build before then.

Knowing this, I feel confident that if you preordered your SS, you will get it before Oct. May not be within the 1st couple months but it will arrive before Oct.

Thanks Guys, I lost it a bit about allocations and the Control thing with GM, sounds very corporate, markety, and like we might get what we want if it happens to suit GM...sounds like a date I had with a lawyer once.

The fine folks at GM have a MARKETING HIT on their hands and I am no sure they know how to handle the success, maybe they should hire someone who can get the job done...sooner rather than later...

Great bunch of people here...Nite Scotty!
I can't keep quiet any longer. You have a total of 5 posts on this forum and you are ridiculing Scotty! You should be ashamed of how you have represented your industry tonight.

Scotty has been a solid supporter of GM and what they are trying to do to move forward in an industry that is under considerable stress right now and in an economy that is at an all time low.

I don't know about anyone else on here, but, you really tic me off.

Yes, mine states it is to be sold at MSRP and lists the prices that have been released since 10-13.

Don't get me wrong, I ordered the SS but its the v6 that is going to sell the most and help GM the most. 10,000 sold orders and 8000 SS's. They initially projected to produce 80,000 to 100,000 cars the first year if I remember correctly. Therefore, sold orders only make up 10% of the projected sales.

Now that I have had time to give more thought to it and remove the emotion of knowing I am going to have to wait a little longer it all makes sense. So 2000 of the sold orders get filled right away and the other 8000 take 30-60 days more. Thats not too much to suffer thru. I think GM has an obligation to get as many cars sold to show the government they are doing the right thing to get the company turned around. So if 90% of the anticipated demand is for the v6, they have to go that direction. Besides, I would rather them get everything possible included in the launch of the SS, including ABL, then have to just take what they give you.
I agree with this after reading all these other mindboggling posts... I've cooled down about 3/4 the way through..... I understand but dissapointed just the less. I may laugh about it when I finally get those 2ss/rs keys in my hand

Yeah, I did the same thing earlier this afternoon before calming down and thinking about GM's big picture....threatened to go out and buy a Challenger. Nah, I don't think so!
You have a '67...lucky dog.

Amazing to me that preordered customers are not being rewarded with cars from GM. I know the money making machine is the V6...as I think most of us knew it would be but to say the V8s may not get made this year (those that have been ordered) is complete failure on GM!

...and yes I know no one has preordered...as GM did not accept any orders but they did look at the data and said it doesn't matter...they could at least honor that!

Another question...when the original allocations were released (before they were removed from chevylaunch, di it have a break down of the cars V6 vs V8 or by trim level or did it just say 10 allocations?

People who pre-ordered are a bunch of whiners and ingrates. After all, you guys all got 2 letters and some pretty pictures in the mail. What more do you want?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?! A car or something? SHEESH!

I was thinking the same thing--he ticks me off too. They virtually cheered about the "sold orders..." thing, which reads basically as an FU to those who DID preorder.

You may have to wait until they sell all the other SSs they get for MSRP plus markup, then they'll sell you yours. Would that be ethical? Not in my eyes. Contractually legal? Absolutely.
While it may not be exactly what you're looking for, I was given paperwork showing that I was #1 of their allocated 5.

Wow, this thread is like a post a minute...wonder how long we can keep that up.

Crazy amount of posts, but really all of it just speculation. I worry on about April 1st when the "I got mine!" threads start...that ought to add to the fire.
