Itinerary for Convoy

Well here's the route I created. it's 13 hours and 6 minutes, which is an hour longer than taking the % to the 10. I hope the thinner traffic will account for it. This means if bay area people leave at 6am and we pick people up around the way, we'll get to Firebird around 7-9pm depending on stops. Is this the correct route for bypassing the 5?

Also, SoCal people, is 215 and 10 a good place for you guys to latch on and join the convoy?
This is pretty close to the route I listed earlier so I totally agree with you. Have you decided the meet up location in Bakersfield yet?

I'll second that, Michael! It should be no problem for us to drive north a bit more on the I215...

This seems to be our route from Carl's for the North OC folk...

If needbe, you're more than welcome to meet us somewhere else on the 10.

My humble opinion would be to have 2 separate convoys coming down CA. One off the 5 for the bay area peeps and one down the 99 for the Central Cali peeps. Both of course meeting in Bakersfield.

I think it would be easier to keep smaller groups together until the bigger meetups, plus it would allow a little more time leeway to pickup stragglers along the routes.

Taking the 58 from the 5 to the 99 would be too much of a hassle, unless we got the PD involved.
58 is easily 30-45 minutes across bakersfield with a bunch of stoplights. Would be quicker going 99 if there's the same amount of traffic.

You're driving less. it's 13 hours for me since I'm one of the furthest north. It'd only be like 8 hours for you since you're already halfway down the state. You'd get to leave later like 9 or 10am too.

Nothing's going to be set up until the route is set. Once we know if we're taking the 5 or 99, we can set up a place to meet based on that route.

Gloommy, is was raining in Coronado at 4:30 this afternoon and I was loving it. It beat the fires we have had for the last two year's. We have to decide the convoy for the San Diego group and where we are meeting.

You can always bring a walkie talkie and listen to the party conversation. I'm sure there'll be regular "bullrun" conversations going on the whole time.

Yeah the rain was nice for a change, kept the temps cool. I think we should find a place that is central, easy to find with a big area for all of us to meet up at. Qualcomm could work if we can get them to let us in.. Once the guys up north get their route and departure times situated, we can do ours since its only like an hour drive for us to meet with them. To be honest, I dont suppose we'll have a HUGE turn out from San Diego so it would be best, I think, if we just met up with the convoy up north, instead of taking the I-8E.

Booked my room for Thurs-Sun too! I have a bunch of old Navy friends living in the area as well so it will be double the fun!
