The question isn't about songs in general, but rather a specific Beatles song. You said that The Beatles would not convey the appropriate image for the Camaro and I respectfully disagreed. There is no flaming going on, nor should there be. I don't think that The Beatles would be ideal for a Camaro advertisement, but I think that the idea is at least interesting enough to discuss.

Frankly I'm not expecting any high-octane, adrenaline-filled ads for a while considering GM's focus on a "sporty" and frugal V6 for an average American family.

I certainly hope you're right. I'd love to see a tire-smoke, roaring V8 filled tv spot with all the cliche shots of beating Mustangs, past Camaro generations etc.

I'm just not getting my hopes up given GM's current financial status and business outlook.

Nope I bet there going to tye it in to transformers some how. It is how the general public views the car, which is turning into a robot, so people will like to affiliate themselves with that Futureistic image!!!!

I'm 31, as big of a Beatles fan you will find, and almost any Beatles tune would befit the Camaro (alright, perhaps their early stuff from Meet the Beatles is a bit too puppy dog, but anything else is just cool).

I play guitar, and one thing I've learned is that any REAL musician learning an instrument to play rock 'n roll will learn a core group of Beatles songs. If you're serious about making good music or writing your own material, study their chord structures, harmonies, production techniques, and rhythm structures and you cannot go wrong.

Now, having said all that, whoever said they don't actually own the rights to their music you are correct. When the Beatles broke up, the rights to all Lennon/McCartney material (Harrison and Starkey material notwithstanding) was held up in court with Apple Inc (their record label, not the computer company) for the better part of the 1970's. When the dust cleared, the catalog went for auction and at the time (John had already died), Paul didn't have enough money to buy them back on his own but tried desparately to go in with the wench Yoko in hopes they could together buy back the Beatles catalog. Well, the wench refused to in with Paul and Michael Jackson the molestor bought them, and owns them to this day! We are all hoping his legal problems present the occasion for Paul to buy them, as he certainly has the money now to do it while Jackson is a bit financially challenged with his molestor cases.

So, any Beatles tune would work for a Camaro commercial

The more popularity, the better for GM, the better for us right? Or do you not want the nascar fans in alabama with mullets and wifebeaters that live in trailer parks to love the car too?




Take a look at these commercials. TI is marketing chevy as a brand to everyone, he just had the concept in his video. Do you think anyone that isn't an enthusiast would have a clue as to what car that futuristic looking badass car in the video is? Once they find out, you'll see a few of them boxes on 26's I'm sure, but that just means more money for GM and the increased longevity for the Camaro bloodline. I'm sure TI will have one and it won't be boxed. That's for the impalas and 'Lacs. The sports/muscle cars they don't box. They might put blades (20"s) or spinners on them, but they hop up the engines and use them as perfomance cars too.






EDIT: I don't like the boxed look either. It's the ghetto fabulous version of rice.

The first 2 were great commercials, especially the second one!

I like it, GM can build on it specifically for the Camaro.
