No Weeds vs ordinary electric cut outs

Is there any reason to fork over the extra 600 bucks for the no weeds exhaust diverters other then the fact that it's stainless steel? Would I get about the same performance from a basic weld in electronic cut out?

if you are going for performances cuts outs are not your answer... they are mainly for the sound off and on

That's all I really want is the sound, I'm not fully into wanting performance from them but I don't want to lose performance to make my car louder, so would the oridinary cut outs be ok for that or are they a waste and not worth the lose in performance if any?

your not going to lose anything, you will gain a little hp up top... but you will lose a little low end power due to less back pressure..

cuts outs are cuts outs they do the same thing .... i would bet noweeds is better quality, but the normal ones will work i would think

cut outs open up another opening after the headers.
Diverters don't just create another opening they completely shut off the rest of the exhaust system and dump all the exhaust gases after the headers.
Both can be electronically controlled to to open at any percent that you want. You can program both to either open all the way up or only halfway or 3/4 of the way etc...

But since the diverters close off the rest of the exhaust, they act like you are basically running open headers and have a very different exhaust tone from regular cut outs.

I think Milk hit it on the head there! There is a guy I work with and he has NO Weeds and they are pretty sick sounding! Your call, but I will say this. I had a cut out on my TBSS and if you just going for sound cheap works?!

I have the QTP cut outs and they sound great open. I just threw a Vortech on and the numbers before were 378HP with everything stock except the K&N Typhoon CAI, the next run was 395ish with the K&N and the cut outs opened...after the S/C install I lost 2 HP with the cut outs open from closed.....

Completely false. Backpressure is a myth.

HP and TQ Gains are usually universal across the board.

I would just get the DMH low profiles and call it a day.

I installed noweeds on my L99 and the kit is great. It required two sawzall cuts and a small hole in the tranny tunnel to run the wiring. The directions were very good and everything worked well. AND... I can remove the kit for the winter and slide the factory tubing back on so there wont be any ill effects of road salt on it. Don't forget that unless you can do some exhaust work yourself the cutouts will require some labor costs.
