Yeah, I just thought about that. The insurance for a V8 Camaro for a 16 year old will be through the roof. That's one of the reasons I'm going with a V6.

Although I'm starting to question whether or not a Camaro is going to be very practical......might go with a 2010 Buick LaCrosse or 2011 Buick Regal instead.

Yeah this is part of the reason I am going with the V6 as well, that and my limit is 30.

And would the practicality of a Buick be in question for you or the OP?

Not for the OP, for myself.

Basically, I can barely control a 190 HP '98 Sonoma pickup in the winter here...a 300 HP Camaro is probably going to be even worse. I need a car I can drive year round, and seeing as how the '10 LaCrosse CXL offers AWD...

It shouldn't be a problem for the OP, seeing as how he lives in Arkansas. But driving around in a Camaro during winter here in Ohio is not going to be a pretty sight.

^Ah ok, sorry did not check your location before I responded. Well living in Texas I have no idea how cars handle in icy/snowy conditions, so I have no idea what to tell you. I would imagine that the V6 would be fine as long as there are no large hills near you or anything like that. Also, would you be getting the auto or manual, since I hear that LSD really helps in the snow? Either way I would go with the Camaro since to me it would be worth a spinout or two in the winter

I would be getting an automatic, and yeah, I've heard that LSD (*snickers at acronym*) is great in the snow. I don't know, at this point, it's just coming down to what seems best for me in a few years.

And because I've actually always wanted a Buick, and I actually wanted the Opel Insignia (aka 2011 Buick Regal) before the Camaro. So we'll see.

I am, however, very glad to see that I can't make up my mind. Means that GM's on a roll with VERY good products.

Since you have been a Buick fan for a while, I can see you being very happy with either car(I am a big fan of both also, I just prefer smaller vehicles). Best of luck to you in your decision-making!

Also make sure you search this website for info like prices and accessories before you go to the dealer. Make sure you are prepared with what you want. Sadly some dealers are not as well informed as this website and/or are marking up prices. Don't let the dealer charge you too much.
Just a friendly warning

I am 16, yea getting a Camaro SO this will be my first car. But, do I have to order the car now or will I have to wait for new ones to come out? I am wanting a SS model or maybe the Black Concept? Now I am just brainstorming today as to what colors I want what specs and everything but I need a few questions answered first.

Also, how long will I have to wait if I order something like the black concept or a 1SS?

Last, colors. I know everyone asks and I'm sure it's just a feel thing but what color would be best in your opinion? Wait. Why am I asking you guys?:P It's different for everyone. I am leaning towards the CGM or black or Yellow, a lot people dislike yellow though:(. Can I get stripes from the manufacturer, or do I need to get them one by someone else?

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions and sorry for my ignorance
Its nice to have another Mustang convert, there can never be too many. I don't want to step on the dreams of a young enthusiast, but a 400 hp car is too much for most experienced drivers. Heck, I was impressed the first time I drove a fwd sedan with 250 hp. If you are a good driver and/or have had experience in other powerful cars, thats great. Otherwise, a bit of caution is called for.

Ok any paretn buying there kid a new car to start with in any case if Freakin NUTZ!

I have 8 kids only 3 left at home now one 16 year old daughter. Oh yes she wants a NEW something WRONG Answer!!!!

I put her together a really nice car fo runder $2500 for her first year at least of driving. If she can inprove her driving skills and not get tickets or wrecks that she causes. We will see about a nice used 2005-2007 Saturn ION or VW Bug or something with great MPG and a good service record for her to head to college in.

KIDS do have accidents all the time and parents who let thier kids drive these cars are FOOLS. Be smart get a good mpg used car for them to practice in at first!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry if I hurt your feelsing but it is true.

This is my daughters first car before and after shots with a pretty awesome Stereo system in it. I got this car in a trade as a down payment for a 2000 TA a friend of my wanted off me.

Hah, no hard feelings I am spoiled and my mom got lucky so Quality>Quanity. I am also an only child.

I am also considering just getting a V6 so that I can get more features added in ya know? A really nice V6>Plain V8 with no extras.\

Also, is it just me or is there a lot less available features for the Camaro over the Mustang? I am looking at this PDF file and there is only 8-12 extra features. I decided to jsut get a LT COUPE 2LT. Insurance is to much and you guys were right to much HP for me

The v6 @ 300 hp is no slouch, and will possibly put your insurance premium at a slightly lower rate which is going to be a consideration if you're a male under 25.

i went with the v6...dect dont under estimate the v6 is got some serious power correct me if im wrong but alot of my friends have 92 camaros with v8 pushing 300+ horses..yes its not 400+ horses but with a few upgrades you can be looking close to 330 horses intake exhaust cats headers supercharger maybe but just remember that accidents do happen ive had my fair share you dont want to wreck a camaro especially a ss

like kelster said the v6 is no slouch
