Ran out of gear as in what, redlined in 6th? That would probably be over 250MPH. I think it hit a wall of drag like the SS.

In the episode of Top Gear when they ran the Camaro with slight mods to the engine against the Mustang with engine mods, the Camaro got up to 189mph within a mile. They said the turbo they put on it was underpowered, but it was clear there was no aero drag problem with the car... So I think the Z28 could easily be made to exceed 190mph...

With GT500 gear ratios its 6th gear can go over 250mph but I think what the editor was trying to says was that its top speed of 184.7mph was at its 5th gears redline. When you shift to 6th it slows down. If it had a longer 5th it might of went faster.

It ran out of gear in 5th gear.

I don't know if either the SS or the GT500 could pull in 6th gear at those speeds/rpms.

I didn't say their was an aero drag problem with the camaro. What I am saying is that at stock power the car runs into a wall of air at 174 mph that it can't overcome.

Of course when you have engine work + turbo you can push through the air harder.

That was Jude's car and it had somewhere around 750rwhp. At least 300 more than the Z28 is going to have. I still think since the SS can do around 180 or so the Z28 will be in that neighborhood and a little better.

Then its running out of power, not gear.
