I just don’t see why the 370z is so heavy for a 2 seater. The Miata is about $2,500lbs and the engine weight can’t be more than 100-200lbs of the difference. Hell the STI, a 4 door hatchback weighs the same and goes as fast or faster after an ECU flash.

Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

I sat in the new z yesterday. Nice tight little cockpit. 3 years ago I was maxing my bench at 535 and let me tell you, that If i were still that size, 240 lbs. I wouldn't make it. Now I'm a slim 210, still the z is snug. Hoping the Camaro is considerably roomier. By the way I'm 5'8".

I saw the 370 a couple days ago, right next to the out going z, and wow it is a nice car. Smaller than you would think, 911 size.

Oops I meant the 370z. If I plan on buying the 370z it would be at least a sec. gen. I am definitely going to test drive the camaro.

Man I agree with you 100%. I never understood why the Z's are so heavy. It doesn't make any sense. It should be no more than 3100lbs or less. Plus, the 370z is smaller in over all size.
There were a lot of complaints over the 350 being to heavy. So, with the 370z trimmed off only about 88lbs, but with new regulations with safety and such, the 370 actually weighs more than the 350 nismo. You would think those people in japan with there so called fuel efficient cars and what not could make the cars lighter.

It's heavy because that's the plan. Japanese plan always has been to start with econoboxes then infiltrate the market up thru the Luxury and truck channels.
That's old post WWII Japense war industrial conversion thinking... Then again... they are probably building giant Robots in tunnels off small Pacific islands too.. (lol). |
