Gear indicator

I would eventually like to refresh my wife on the 6 speed. <shudders>
Is there a way that she can tell what gear she is in?

.

There is no indicator for the manual, that i have seen. Practice driving it is about the only answer. Good luck, you are more brave than I. Hopefully she is easier on the clutch than my wife would be.

My wife refuses to try to learn. And she promised she would before we got the car.

Also, for the first few days I had the car, I thought the skip shift image on the DIC was telling me I accidentally shifted from 1st to 4th. I didn't realize it was forcing me into 4th. I was wondering why it didn't show what gear I was in all the time. Doesn't the auto indicate your gear?

The old pickup in the driveway is the best way to do that.

Yes the L99 auto has the gear indicator when in manual tapshift mode.

My wife has NO problems hammering on mine ... We went for a drive tonight out to the beach and she drove there. It does my heart good when she yells at cars in front of her, to find the damn gas pedal ...

I wouldnt have minded them putting an indicator of which gear im in, even just a small one in the corner, but it isnt really needed. You can usually kinda feel what gear you are and just using common sense based on speed and RPM. I just wish second was easier to get into quickly lol.

There are 2 gearshift indicators;
1. If the car bucks and stalls, downshift.
2. If the engine is screaming and turning off and on, you are hitting the rev limiter and need to upshift.

If you really want to teach your wife to drive a manual transmission in a Camaro... do yourself and your marriage a favor and either don't do it or rent a manual camaro.
