Oh no, not the red key, ooooooh, new excuse for Mustang owners "...you caught me with the wrong key."

Mine has mind control, my mind tells my right foot to stand on it and that LS3 and Maggie take it from there.

This Boss 302 will be an awesome car. Now I admit the key thing is a little silly rather than using a button, but right now it is technology that Ford is using and GM is not! Ford is doing whatever it takes to get their market back. And I say their market adn not market share because lets be honest the Mustang is the Pony Car market as far as I'm concerned they are the first and original and have dominated sales throughout history. I'm sorry but 1 year of top sales doesn't change a thing yet. GM is struggling to get a Z28 competitor out right now. While Ford continues to bring out limited models of the Mustang to keep it fresh and interesting while GM is so far behind.

Remember it took GM almost 4 years to develop a Camaro SS and we all fpr the most part applauded GM for doing so much R&D to bring us the best Camaro they could that would no doubt in our minds put the Mustang in the rear view mirror. Than we opened up C&D / R&T magazines only to see that the aging Mustang with it's 4.6L and only 315 HP still won the shootout in Round 1. And Ford didn't sit back and wait they made the Mustang better only one modle year later to keep their crown in Round 2. Now in Spring 2011 when Round 3 starts with the Boss 302 GM won't even have a competitor. Hopefully GM doesn't embarrass itself and send the SS out ther to get slaughtered by a race car version of the car it can't beat now. I'm sure the magazines will have to find an SLP to do the comparo since GM has nothing.

And maybe in Round 4 GM will have a Z28 ready for a GT500 that will probably be even better than it is now since Ford never sits back on their Mustang!

first let me say I love my Camaro and am glad to be out of my Mustang, but......

Ford is constantly ahead of GM in performance options. You can order a Mustang with optional handling package and better gear ratios, and note that every Mustang in a Mustang/Camaro comparison has those options. Would I have ordered those things on my Camaro if I could? HELL YES! warranty and rolled into financing, no brainer.

Ford racing also offers a ton of aftermarket stuff, and it's quality stuff not watered down corporate bling that really makes your car faster/handle better.

GM's trying to catch up to the gt500 with the z28 and I hope they do it, but why are they happy trying to just catch up?

GM, you can make money with performance stuff-look at Ford

I scanned this thread quickly so forgive me if I repeat someone.

Did anyone consider that the ECM may need to be rebooted after going to performance mode. As with most computers "(except *nix ... and you can bet Micro$oft is in on this and they aren't using any flavor of *nix) you have to reboot the system after a config change. This just may be the case and why they need you to stop the ECM before going into performance mode.

Just a thought.

I think this is a great idea. Hats off to Ford for continuing to innovate. All you bashers would love this is GM came out with it first.

I'm sure they could, my point was more along the lines of "this is why its not a switch but a key instead".

While I don't think thats the only reason, I'm sure they probably had that thought as well.

One of the mags compared the GT without the performance package (I think it was a GT/CS) vs the Camaro and the Camaro whooped it in every way. Ford offers the parts separate to keep the price down and to give the car broader appeal to the guy who just wants the macho V8, but whos gonna just drive it on sundays or let it rot in the garage or just drive slow to say hes got it.

I wouldn't call Fords packages there so much performance options as I would call Ford for having lack of performance standard, unlike the camaro.

However this whole Boss 302 thing is pretty kickass and I widh Chevy offered more things like this.

yeah, why have two separate keys? just have a switch on the dash--Street and Competitive, cars have had this forever, and essentially it's generally the same idea as the Competitive mode on the Camaro for the suspension (and of course you have launch control as well).

It is an awesome idea.

It will be an "offroad" type upgrade meaning that they could not include the tune/key from the factory in any way shape or form.
