SO, here is the ultimate end-all of "v6 vs v8" question.

V6 owners, would you buy a v8 if you paid the same for insurance and gas?

Explain your answer.
Eh, the cost difference for insurance and gas is minimal. It's the initial cost of the actual vehicle that makes the difference in the majority of cases.

Nice! You'll get some more improvements as GM refines these awesome cars

Dude, I didn't get the car I wanted until I was over 10 years past my graduate degree. If you can do it that soon, freakin' go for it! I promise you, it will go by faster than you think (and I'm only 36 now).

I got my bachelor's in '09. Right now I'm in med school so I should be able to afford the SS (hopefully the Z28) when I'm done!
I'm doing what I love, so it definitely is going by fast!!!

Yep. The gas mileage is what, between 1 and 3 more mpg depending on where and how you drive it? The insurance is a little more based on the purchase price. I'm sorry, but both of those combined won't make $100 a month, and if you're that strapped for cash, you really shouldn't be buying any new automobiles. So, it boils down to whether you feel the V8 is worth the additional purchase price to you. I understand that many people don't feel that it is, even though they may be able to afford it.

Personally, I was willing to wait.

Then how can you not understand? It's like you but the car is a vette.

All are sweet rides.

I wanted a loaded V6 and that's what I got, and btw in Canada my car costs as much as a 2SS down there. If you want a loaded 2SS up here it will be 50k.

Anyhoo, the reason I went for V6 because it already has more than enough power for idling in rush hour traffic. Plus I will be gutting it in a few years... so seriously no point.

Never will be racing it either, why drop thousands in a bigger engine and thousands more making it go faster if you only can really speed once a blue moon? Majority of V8 owner do not enter any competitions do they?

I may get the upcoming Z28 for a little competition, but the 2LT may be faster by then...

see thats makes sense i understand that .... and btw i would never enter a stock camaro into a competition maybe you v6s owners think we would because your v6 seems pretty fast to you and think the v8 is really fast.. but even the v8 isn't really that fast stock... maybe for everyday driving

i went to the drag one time with my camaro with CAI and cat back and was one of the slowest cars there... i might go again next year with 500 hp now ....

I am definitly NOT a V6 hater, but saying a 2LT may be faster than the Z/28 at any point is a little silly. Do you have any clue how much money you would have to put into the 2LT to make it faster than the Z ? You might as well just buy the Z.... Again, not hatin on the V6 just saying you are talking outta your hiney..... I think V6 purists will even vouche for me on that one.
