New car, first mods...

The earlier thread I just posted, which was my first, talked about the car I am buying in a day.

Next, on to mods. I love the car, but I can't stand stock. I also don't like to build it piece by piece so I am going for the mid 500's right off the bat.

When I have the car, maybe tomorrow, I will place the order for my parts. Here's what I am thinking:

Full header exhaust system, engine to exhaust tips. I am thinking Texas Speed or American Racing.

Supercharger system. I want a roots type, as I already run one on my 4WD truck and love it.

Cold air kit

Engine programming/tune which will probably come with the supercharger kit.

My car is a 6-speed and already has the Hurst shifter.

What else should I be looking at?

I will also order the wheels, probably stock size to retain the stock tires until they become fully applied to the local Kentucky streets

flyin6, you pretty much covered it....and what you are wanting to do will do the trick. IF you have some local shops that have experience with the specific equipment you want to add would be a good thing, that way once its installed, and tuned, you and them would know what the results should be....and if not, you should know where to start the troubleshooting.

OH and BTW, Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's and wive's here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

Depending on the S/C and tune you may want to consider beefing up the drive train i.e. axles, trailing arms, sway bars and stiffen the chassis.

http://www.bmrfabrication.com/index....s&vehicleid=17

I've already replaced the trailing arms on mine with those from BMR^

The mods you listed is a pretty good start to get the power you want..... to get a better idea, how about listing some goals for the car? if all you want is just a mid 500 rwhp car... you pretty much got it with the current list of mods.

LOL if you are ripping apart the engine to install a supercharger, you shouldn't be installing the supercharger yourself. LMFAO

or if you are paying someone to install a supercharger and they charged you for "taking the motor apart", you need to go some place new, because you are getting ripped off. lol.

THis is the big advantage to belonging to a site like this...so much institutional knowledge to tap into.
BTW, Planned on adding sway bars right away, and have an eye on a Z06 clutch, since I don't believe there is any way a stock clutch will ever hold up to 550-600HP

I'm definately doing the SC install myself, have done many in the past. The only thing I haven't done on an LS motor is a cam change which I understand is pretty easy. I am also challenges with custom tunes, although I have done it before. I'll install the SC, maybe, just maybe a cam (have to think that one through) but get it professionally tuned.

Forgot...goals for the car.
I'd say general performance.
I expect to drive it on the streets occasionally, drag race it 1/8th and 1/4 mile now and then, and possibly play around with some SCCA stuff at a new track going in locally.
However, comma,
This seems like one heavy car, so I do not anticipate getting serious with any track stuff, not like my vette, but see it more like a cool saturday night car used to mark up local streets some! I guess I'm as happy with a slow cruise with a cammed motor thumping away in a pure chevy as I would be drifting around some (wide) corner, not that I'd ever do that!

If you think you want to do the cam go ahead while you are doing the rest of the work. You won't regret it
