OK. I’ve watched this thread with some interest, and usually follow without getting too involved.
But now, I’ve realized that I’m a TERRIBLE parent. My poor son, who graduated towards the top of his class in high school, had to buy his own used car. I was able to help with insurance though. Then after graduating with a physics degree from college, he bought another used car (Impala 10+ years old) and still drives this after graduating with another degree in engineering. He works for a nationally recognized company as a field engineer and makes good money; but still waiting to buy a new car until he can save and afford it. Maybe I should have bought him a new Camaro. Maybe he doesn’t deserve a high performance car because he’s a Nerdy physics geek, ( who was Allstate in football & wrestling, prom King, homecoming King and worked road construction in the summer to pay for his used clunkers). But just MAYBE he’s the man that grew up pay his own way, buys a car and/or house that he can AFFORD and doesn’t ask someone to bail him out (Taxpayers or others). I don’t think all persons are just jealous, but feel that youth (being 16 or 21) get things that should worked for AND that there should be little common sense involved with the purchase by the parents. I’ve broken that rule of “bragging” a little, but was trying to show that there are good hard working kids out there that don’t get everything handed to them. As far as the OP; I’m happy for you, and maybe all the thing above apply. Having a parent in the business maybe allowed for a “great” deal and the gift in their eyes wasn’t that big of deal. But many of us parent know what happens to new drivers in ANY car let alone one with the power of a Camaro. Please be careful. |

Congrats. I'd go with exterior mods first. Blacks rims would look great. If you want performance go with an air intake to let it breathe or exhaust to give it some umph

I have 2 boys, 1 is 18 driving a Zr2 S-10 and the other is 21 driving a Cobalt SS/SC. If I could afford it I would buy them both a Camaro.

In Ohio, when you register the car, the state registers the car with an expiration that ends on your birthday. If you are born in June and you register your car in October....the registration goes to June, don't most states work that way?
