Here's the email I sent them:

I would like to voice my dissapointment in the fact that the new OnStar app does not work on 2010 model vehicles. I purchased my Camaro brand new 3.5 months ago, yet it's already outdated. I think it's unfair that those of us who bought 2010 models to make way for the 2011 models are punished. If it wasn't for those of us who bought 2010 models, there wouldn't even be a 2011 model. Part of the reason I bought the 2010 vs. the 2011 was because the 2010 came with a year of OnStar vs. 6 months on the 2011. Now I can't even use all the features available and I don't really care to have OnStar anymore. Do the right thing and make this app work on 2010 model cars. It is still 2010, right? If you don't make it work, then expect no renewal from me, or many other 2010 owners.

I have been Tweeting at Onstar's Twitter account (as posted by a previous user). I got the same generic reply about Generation 9 hardware. I asked for a technical reason, pointed them to Camaro 5, and told them that many of us will not be renewing OnStar unless our 2010 models are supported. I plan to make a call later as well.

"@TheReal_OnStar What is the hardware difference? I'm an IT guy, so feel free to get technical."

Can't wait to see if they reply.

Vote with your wallet people. Do not renew OnStar unless we receive support! How dare they tell us that our 2010 models are outdated when it is still 2010.

It's also under FAQ's on their page as well.

When will the OnStar MyLink mobile app be available for previous model year vehicles?

I love it when I am right and my detractors are proven to be completely wrong! (As usual...)

Thanks for the update!

Yes, HOW DARE THEY!?

And nothing any third party game-tester can say will make this right! So don't try it anymore! How dare they leave us with our pants off! While we pay for their fancily styled pants every month! Ok, but NO! GIVE US AN APP ONSTAR!

From my understanding, you'll be able to lock/unlock & start your car from anywhere. (Hypothetically speaking; you catch a flight from Boston to Dallas, your car is parked in Boston airport. You get to Dallas and realized you didn't lock your car. You can lock the car from the app. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.)

You have to be within a certain distance for the key FOB to work. You can also check your fuel level, tire pressure and a few other things from the app.

I'm looking forward to having it. Hopefully it'll come out for 2010 models before May (OnStar trial ends), so I can figure out if having the app is a determining factor in keeping OnStar.

Maybe all this chatter is displaced HUD anger??

If I were a 2010 owner, I'd be a lot more disappointed that I didn't get a HUD with my ride.
Iphone app = something you'll get in a few months for free
HUD = awesomeness, higher resale value over vehicles no equipped, something a 2010 car probably will never be able to get without some serious out of pocket cash, etc.

Want what you have, people.

I hope the devs for that app really look at what saved Chevy and allowed them to stay open the 2010 Camaro sales help save them so they need to so respect and add 2010 support.

I just spoke to my friendly OnStar representative about this and several other issues and I was informed that part of the reason the app is only available on 2011 models is that they are still in a research and development mode and once they gather more information, it is still possible that older models will be supported. I guess this roll-out is kind of a "beta test". I mentioned that an explanation for the limited roll-out would have avoided a lot of negative feedback from current subscribers but hopefully in the near future we'll hear about expanded support.

Great idea. Now let's make it available to people who can actually afford new cars and OnStar.
Business people (the ones that make money) don't buy toy phones to play with.
Blackberry OnStar App, please. Thanks.
PS- Huh? No 2010 support. I must say some MBA educated morons' good idea. Sorry, just saying it like it is ya'll. Who comes up with these stupid business decisions. Oh, I forgot, recent graduates. iPhones, and no support for BlackBerry users, and no support for all the people that just bought "brand new" 2010 vehicles ;
All the GM Execs fell for this business case? Laughable. So, whos' in bed with who at Apple and OnStar?
