How can I tell if I have a dry or oiled filter? I just purchased a vehicle that already had a Roto-Fab CAI installed so I don't know exactly what I have.
Also, am I reading the above post about the dry filter correctly? You will never need to change the dry filter... ever? Are there directions somewhere on how to properly clean an oiled filter? |

If it's the original white Roto Fab supplied filter, it's a dry filter (aFe PRO Dry S). I opted for that filter when I bought mine from Mike.

Here are the cleaning instructions straight from aFe's site for their dry filter....
http://afepower.com/faq.php 1) Use a soft bristle brush like a paint brush to remove large chunks of debris and dirt from between the pleats. GENTLY TAPPING the filter on the ground to remove any loose dirt being careful not to bend any of the pleats. 2) Spray the cleaning solution that comes in our Restore Kit, on the dirty side of the filter. Let the cleaning solution soak in for about 10 minutes. 3) Rinse the filter from the clean side of the filter to the dirty side. Repeat spraying and rinsing until the water is clear. Since media will be stained, it will not be completely white and may still appear dirty. 4) DO NOT USE A HIGH PRESSURE WATER NOZZLE when rinsing the filter. 5) Let the filter air-dry. DO NOT USE COMPRESSED AIR TO DRY THE FILTER! It may take a couple of hours for a Pro DryS to 12 to 24 hours for a Pro5R depending on humidity and temperature.

I did a lot of reading over most of the CAIs available. Roto-fab was the one I went with. Just ordered yesterday.

Im a owner and a dealer with Roto-Fab and I will honestly say they have some of the best customer support I have had the opportunity to work with, Their product is 2nd to none and is a noticeable difference, I only have 320 miles on my car and have had it on since it had appx 25 miles, so my car is not even remotely broke in yet, But its a noticeable driveable difference in throttle response, and I have not even ran the car over 3700 rpm's..
