I actually suggested to the GM team a year ago about putting the sensors in the 1LS, 1LT, and 1SS, and give the 2LT and 2SS the backup mirror camera like the traverse had....

They liked the idea.... Lets see what 2012 brings!

I think the company who makes the mirrors for gm w on star is called Gentex. My bro in law works for them. Google them and look them up if you want to know if it's possible.

No need...if can't back a car up without knowing where your car is....you probably shouldn't have passed your driving test. I know in Ohio when first getting your drivers lisence you have to back up through a cone track. Hit one cone and you fail.

However...the camera would have a purpose for spotting things a driver and mirrors could not possibly see. Like toys in the drive way, high curbs (like on another thread where a diffuser got ripped up because of a broke curb) and even a animal or child. Purely a safety devise and shouldn't be use in replace of driving skills or to allow a driver to get complacent

While I appreciate that so many drivers are omniscient and don't need back up cameras, therefore being vastly superior to those of us who depend on technology to enhance our limited senses....I WANT ONE! Better to have a camera and not need it than to bump into the car behind you while parallel parking!

I'm with you there 100%! If you can't drive it go back to your old mini van

Back up camera

How about putting the back up camera in the HUD? When you go into reverse the HUD displays what's to the rear.

Some of us were driving easier cars to see out of before your driving instructor exited the passenger seat, and understand advancements.

You still have time to enter the drawing to win our new Rear Vision Camera System. Just pm your name, address, and Email to us by the end of the day this Wednesday the 10th to be entered. We had a great reaction from everyone who saw it at SEMA and cannot wait to get it into Camaro owners hands. Good Luck!Name: Camaro_C5_RVS.jpg

Did you guys read about the guy test driving the Veyron who couldn't make out the obsticle in his rear camera due to the small (rear view mirror) screen size and did like 30k in damage in his 30 second test drive?

All the more reason for a real Navigation/Rear Camera system. It's almost 2011 isn't it? If we're not going to have flying cars, we should at least have back-up cameras!

All the "If you can't back up without a camera, you shouldn't have a license" comments are inane. Guess they never heard of a kid in a crowded parking lot getting backed over before. And the Camaro doesn't exactly have great rear visibility.

And all the "What did we do before backup cameras etc?" comments; the same thing we did before power brakes, steering, auto trans, etc etc. It's called progress.

I like the option. But if u really need the back up camera just throw in a touchscreen navi system compatible with a rearview camera. That's what I did and it came out clean. I love it
