They should just take it completely off. What is it there for? There are no lights on the trunk lid. The catch on the bottom will have the release. The lisence plate is fixed to the body. Put a light inside the trunk if there needs to be one. Am I missing something.
I'm thinking of what I could be missing and I know as soon as I click 'submit' I will feel like an idiot.

Look up top. The emergency release is on the lid. That's what that loom is. If you don't have kids or don't care you can probably just disconnect that safety feature. All better now.

If that's all it is, it's GONE from mine first thing. If kids are dumb enough to lock themselves in my trunk, then they can just chill out in there for a little while to learn a lesson

Finally got to see a pic of Silver Ice w/ polished wheels on page 12. This combo looks better than i could have imagined. Thanks to the photographer for placing them here.

The loom may also be to provide brake light connections for the integrated brake light in the blade spoiler (and maybe the high wing spoiler, if that has a brake light on it also).

The latch is on the decklid, the striker is on the body. As there is no key cylinder, it is electric unlatching only so without the harness, you wouldn't be able to unlatch the trunk.

Well you could "cut the wire" and load everthing through the nice fold down rear seat. THere is a very large pass through..........on second thought, leave the wire.

Ahha ! Got an idea. Cut the wire. Bring the kids with me when I get beer and send them in the passthrough to pull the trunk emergency cord !

Better idea. Go to local aftermarket store and install remote trunk release. If they can install power lock actuators for a remote keyfob they sure as hell ought to be able to install a trunk lock actuator. Or does that still present the same problem? Still need power at the trunk lid for the actuator... Hmmmmm. I'll figure this out and be rich....
