Is it possible to use hide away mounting bracket without drilling but cable ties?
Hello,
I did a google search about the front license mounting bracket for the Camaro, and I saw a discussion where somebody took the typical front license mounting bracket and used cable ties around the bumper, while hiding and concealing those cable ties behind the frame itself. This got me thinking. The swift motorsports hiding front license mounting bracket is great, but you still have to drill into the bumper, just the bottom. I don't want to drill anywhere, but I want the ability to hide the plate, too. Is it possible to tie the mounting bracket to the bottom without any drilling, instead? I'm thinking of ordering the manual one and trying it out. Otherwise, I don't know, I may have to stomach a permanent plate to the front using ties or maybe an adhesive that was mentioned elsewhere on this site. Thank you for any replies. Take care. |

I'm sure you can do it without drilling. I mean 3M makes some pretty strong double sided tape. Then add in some adhesion promoter squares and you're set. I agree with you on the no drilling, hence me not having a front plate at all

I bought a no drill bracket on ebay. It uses the 2 bolts under the facia and then clips to the grill. Took me less than 5 mins to put it on.

Thank you, I saw that thread. But that is exactly what i want to avoid, drilling anywhere on the bumper: front, side, bottom. You still have to disturb the bumper, even if you can't see it. I'm looking for a mounting bracket that hides away like the swift motorsport one, but uses adhesion, not bolts or screws, to fix it to the front. I may just purchase the motorsport bracket and figure out a way to affix it without scathing the bumper with bolts or screws.

Darth_emma, do you think you can recall the name of the bracket you found on ebay? I would appreciate it, if you could be so kind.
Thank you very much. |

The seller's ebay name was fdsell. I'll see if I can find a new listing for you.
Edit: I couldn't find a listing for one in his ebay store, so I sent a note to the seller I got it from asking if he still sells them. Last edited by Darth_Emma; 11-15-2010 at 03:24 PM. |

I got tired of looking for a no drilling required hide-away solution, so I bought a metal holder that mounts with a pressure plate and some bolts (no drilling, it's through the lower grille slats) that is easily removable. Looks like a little triangle, can't even see it with the plate. Got it from ******: http://****************/gallery_camaro_yellow.html (that's my car!
) and i'm quite happy with it.

Move to Michigan, they dont have a front plate.
Seriously though, a buddy of mine has the one redjewelss2 showed, and its very nice. You dont even see the holes om the bumper, and if you want to sell the car inthe future, they make special plugs for the holes you can get at a hardware store for about .25 cents. |

Fdsell said he would repost them on ebay. Here is his store:
http://stores.ebay.com/fdsellracingparts By the way, the brackets he sells are specific to SS/LT/, etc. and w/and w/o gfx. So make sure you get the right one for your car. This is the one for an SS without GFX: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevr...Q5fAccessories Hope this helps. PS: I love the bracket I got from him. Works great. They're well made and easy to put on and take off with existing bolts. |
