I turn all my stuff on the night before and works fine except the rear defrost... Im sure there is some sort of safety thing there so its not on forever... most rear defrosts shut off after a certain time as to not over heat the back window... As for the heated seats, make sure its programmed on the radio settings to on w/ remote start, but keep in mind that its not gonna come on full heat till you're in the car and ignition on, again due to safety while the vehicle is unoccupied... Remember its freezing cold out all night, so a seat being warmed up on half of the warmer power is not going to warm up real quick.... just my two pennies on the matter....

Seems pretty pointless to me. Not sure how much of a safety factor the rear defrost or really the heated seats would be. I think GM just dropped the ball on this and isn't interested in fixing this for a 'summer car'..... I'll withdraw the statement when proven wrong.

Well it depends on how the remote start was installed, not sure if it's factory remote start or an aftermarket one, there are two accessory wire on the ignition switch and one of the remote start wire is suppose to be connected to the right one, if not connected to the right one the heater, defroster and heated seats will not work.....

mine is an l99,, factory remote. the heater was on the defrost and fan set to high,,dont care about the seats,, IT DOESNT WORK. factory set up, all on,, not the seats. whats up with that. try it,,tell me if yours works. had solid frost,,ten min warm up,,,didnt touch it.??? if you use the key, it works in a heart beat. whats up gm.

I set mine up through the Radio, I have a 2LT RS, the seats do not seam to heat up either

I turned mine on at night and shut the car off. In the morning when I started the car remotely air did come out but it stayed cold even though the heat was set on high. What a waste!

I'm a little disappointed no one has an answer, but I am glad to see I'm not alone. Misery loves company.

I had an after market automatic starter on my 98 Camaro, and never had a problem. I would start the car up a few minutes before leaving and I was nice a warm when I got in, and rarely did I have to scrap the ice off of the windows.

Now I have the factory automatic starter on my '10 Camaro, and I have to work to scrap the windows and drive to work cold. This is my first real complaint about the car. I'll be taking it in this week to see what is going on.

So far it has only been ice from overnight, no real snowfall. If the factory automatic car starter can't turn on my heat when there is 12 inches of snow on the ground I will not be happy.

I would be very interested in what excuse you are going to get. Please post once you find out. I have had the same problem with my 2010. The fan/heat will not work no matter what configurations I use with remote start. Once the key is in the ignition it starts right away.

I also do not believe that the temp has to be at 50 because it has been in the 20's here. Still not working.

Here is some info GM released last year reguarding heated seat operation during remote start. I'd have to dig deeper to see if the rear defroster would also come on at the same time. My car is garaged so I haven't really used remote start

. As far as airflow and temp, they will come on during remote start at whatever they were left at last key off. Remember as always, the engine will have to reach operating temp before you will get heat.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:
Customer concerns consist of two different complaints:

Complaint A:
When a customer enters the vehicle "after" a RVS event, they notice the heated seat indicators lights are NOT functioning. This is leading the customer to think that their heated seats are not being enabled.

Complaint B:
When a customer enters the vehicle "after" a RVS event, the heated seats are NOT up to operating temperature when they enter the vehicle.

Recommendation/Instructions:
Resolution for Complaint A:
Although the heated seat will be functioning, this is "normal operation" during a RVS event. The ECC is not in a complete wake up state in RVS mode, therefore the LED's will not be enabled.

Resolution for Complaint B:
During a cold soaking below 32 deg (overnight) the seat is NOT going to get "hot" in the 10 minutes or less that the customer has the vehicle in remote start.

This is due to the fact that the heating element is not in direct contact with the seat surface while the seat is unoccupied, and the foam below the heater is full of cold insulating air which takes time to heat up. The remote start operation will reduce the seat warm up time once the customer sits in the seat.

Important: The performance of the heater (during RVS event) is going to be reduced while the seat is cold and unoccupied.

Additional Notes:: During a RVS request from the customer the heated seat operation is determined by a BCM calculation based off Outside Air Temperature and will only allow RVS (heated seat) operation below 50 Deg F OAT.

Hmmmmm, I thought it was just a matter of me not giving it enough time in the morning but I've noticed the same thing with the heated seats. This morning, for example, I had the car running for ~5 minutes before I got in and the front seats were just as cold to the touch as the back. Yesterday morning I didn't remote start the car and turned on the heated seats manually and they were getting warm fairly quickly, granted it had my weight forcing the seat down closer to the heating coils. Perhaps tomorrow morning I'll turn on the passenger side when I get in the car and see how long it takes that to heat up......

The engine has to warm up first for the heater/defroster to work, and you have to set the heat on hot plus turn the defrosters on before you shut the car off the night before. The seats are in the radio menu.

Is there a setting for the rear defrost? I don't think there is. If there is let me know.

I think you have to turn it one when you get in the car. By the way my heated seats get hot/warm before I get in the car.

This make perfect sense, and I have tried it. I am more concerned with the lack of heat in the cabin, than I am with the seat warmers. I have turned the heat on full blast, set on defrost, and without. Each way I have it set all the way up to super hot.

Then I turn the car off. When I turn the car back on with the remote start the cabin heater does not turn on. No air is blowing.

It doesn't matter if I turn the car right back on or if I wait a few hours. I have to put the key in the ignition to get the air to start to blow.

I have waited 10 minutes. It just so happens that the seats are also not warmed up in those 10 minutes. And yes I programed it via the radio.

The thing is, if I start the car with the key to begin with the heat goes on and I can feel the seat warm up within minutes.

Something just isn't right.
