Anyone else not driving there C5 this winter
Im not driving my C5 during winter months due to road salts. My question is should I use Stabol in the fuel while she sits this winter? I'm only starting her up a couple times a week. Anyone help with this...
Thanx Mine will be indoors! So the plywood and plastic is a good idea. Thank you Last edited by stasha87; 11-18-2010 at 07:29 PM. |

me too! I just put mine away for the second time, we had a week of good weather after the first time and it drew me back out.
Put some stabil in the gas and run it to get it all through the system, maybe look into a battery tender. No need to start it that often, or really at all if you keep the battery charged. If you do start it, leave it running long enough to get all the way up to normal temps. |

Just put mine away for the 2nd winter. '06 GTO 3 before that. I fill the tank and use Stabil. Not sure if it's really necessary. I leave gas in my power tools without it all winter and they run just fine every spring. But a $100 leaf blower is one thing, a $7000 LS3 is another. $6=peace of mind. Just do it. They only other things I do is air up the tires, attach a trickle charger, and throw on a cover. Not anal enough to lay down 14 layers of cardboard, plastic, bed sheets, etc. Never had a speck of rust under any car I've stored or a flat spotted tire.

I use stabil
I don't start my car though....... a drain the oil and let it sit as is. When you first start your car is when you do the most wear/tear on it, as it is being rotated but it is not properly lubed yet. haha... i said lube.

Not stored yet, still driving it daily. I will put it away when the snow and salt hits the road. I just ordered a battery tender. I will use stabil. I have been using stabil in all my gas run items for 20 years. Fresh oil change when I know I am done driving it for the winter. Fill the tires to around 42 PSI. Put some bounce sheets in the engine compartment, trunk and interior. Park it on top of some plywood wood boards that are on top of plastic. Lastly throw a homemade cover over the top and say goodnight.

Mine will be going away within the next couple days, kinda sad to see her go, especially when I have to climb back into the '91 Honda Accord, lol. I won't be doing too much as far as prep work. Stabil, full air in tires, steel wool in exhaust pipes, dryer sheets in the car and intake. She is going to be in a storage unit so I'll remove the battery and take it home to be on a charger. As far as flooring goes I'll do plastic over the concrete followed by a layer of plywood.
