EFILive Tune questions

After a year of having my ARH LT headers, Borla S-type and New ERA OTR intake installed I am planning to have a friend of mine tune my car with EFI Live.

I know he should know what he is doing but what kind of things can I look for? Will I need a wide band O2 sensor for just some basic tuning, if so, what type do you recommend....Innovate a good one to go with? With the CEL associated with the LT headers, will the rear O2 sensors be disabled? If so, can they be removed or should they stay in? Just wondering if I can install the wideband into one of the free holes?

Can I get some of the torque management removed? What else can I have done and what kind of horsepower will I find hidden in my car? By the way I have a LS3.

Thanks guys.

If your friend is a real tuner, he will have a WB O2 sensor that he uses for tuning. He will get the AFR between 11.5 and 12.5 at WOT. If you want your own sensor, go for it. I have one, but it is only useful at WOT.

You might want to get him to turn off:
active fuel management
rear O2 codes
rev limiter
speed limiter
and DFCO if you dont like exhaust popping

Well I know he has done his own cars and a few other corvettes so I think he has his own WB O2, so thats good to know I can save a few dollars for now. When I SC my car I will definitely purchase one for myself then.

I shouldn't have to worry about AFM being that I have a LS3 but what are the pros/cons of the DFCO? I actually don't mind the popping, but if it doesn't affect anything i'll just leave it.

What about the rev limiter....what do you recommend setting that at?

Thats why I asked what I should set it at? That would be crazy turning it off.

Dude. As, long as you don't waste your money on a Diablo Trinity, you're good to go with EFI live. You can always put back your stock tune.

For sure turn of rev limiter, and speed limiter. I can't stand the bucking after 4500rpm. in certain modes and gears.

I was actually thinking about one of these but for some reason I had my doubts. I know with EFILive and HP tuners they is so much more they are capable of.

Another thing that sucks is that we don't have a dyno on Island so I will have to depend on data logging to get it tuned right.

You said torque management... so I thought A6. I dont think there is any way to manage the torque of a M6. You just have to get better at shifting.

... so turn of "skip shift" for sure. I forgot what it is called in ECM terms.

if you ever hit the rev limiter on the dragstrip... you'll know why you want to turn it off.

DFCO saves you gas. If you have a WB O2, you will notice that the AFR goes way lean when you let off the gas and coast. When it gets over 20 AFR... thats when the popping starts. Some people hate the popping so they turn it off.... not me.... I likes the gurgling and popping.

I have read in other threads that there is actually torque management with the M6, but is to do with the ignition side not the transmission like on the A6. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think GM has the torque set not to exceed 280 ft/lbs below 3000rpm on the M6.

I love the popping also so I'll leave that alone

uhhhh the tr6060 has torque management.....

and i'd like to know why the rev limiter is a bad thing again..... I'd like some protection against valve float, excessive engine speeds?

Guess I learn something new every day. Do most tuners know how to tweek it?

I guess.... I am by far, no "tuning expert". Just max out all the values on the tm table...... it isn't too hard to find.
