The last 2 mornings have been down in the 30's and both days after starting the car the radio display was blank. Just kind of a glowing green color.
I tried shutting it off and re starting and it was still the same thing.
After about a 5 min drive shut it off and let it sit for about 15 min start it back up and all is fine.
Dealership is checking to see if GM has any ideas.
I guess the radio just don't like cold mornings.

How is it normal for the radio display to be blank every time it drops down in the 30's?
It was 34 this morning and mine was blank again. So far every single morning that it has dipped down into the 30's my radio has done this. Never have a problem in 40 deg weather.
I am sure the dealer will take care of it they just want to see it doing it.
It is hard to get it to them to see when we only have 1 30 deg morning every few weeks. As soon as it is going to be cold for a few mornings in a row I will get it in for them to see and fix. After I drive it for a few miles and shut it off for 15-20 min it comes back on and works great.

Mine did a similar thing the other day. Screen was blank but the radio was working. When I shut it off and restarted my Camaro the radio screen was now working fine again.

The radio has a temp link on the outside and displays the temp on the radio. Because theres no relay of temp info, it goes straight to radio, i think its to prevent damage to the lcd screen from cold weather. Once the car heats up a little the engine heat will bring it to a temp that will not harm it. Good indication not to just start driving your car. Big displacement engines need time to warm up, escpecially when its really cold, to prevent internal damage. It has and will always been the rule with all v8's. Think of it as a reminder. Just start it up, defrost, heat, heated seats, and go grab your coffee. Come back out and shes ready to go. Small step to conserve life of your drivetrain and to having a sweet beast of a car.

You shouldn't let it warm up that long..... My 2011 V6 does this too, how frustrating, you don't know where the stations are, or the time. Freakin Junk.

2011 V6 Camaro no screen(cold weather)

It's now getting cold in the mornings here in Ontario. This morning the LCD was blank on my 2 week old Camaro.

If it's a known issue then I would have liked some warning that this would happen. I wouldn't mind if it stayed off and turned back on by itself after it warmed up but it looks like you need to turn it off and back on to get it working again.(i tried quickly when i got to work this morning but it stayed off)
Not too pleased about this. It's only going to get a heck of a lot colder.

You need to let it warm up, then turn the car off, take the key out, open the door, get out so the radio goes off, then get back in and start the car up. Unreal

It's NOT a temperature problem. The first time it showed up on mine, last week, it was not below freezing, but it was in the mid 30's. Drove the car for a bit, power cycled the ignition, and it was back to normal. I called the dealer, and the service tech said that he has seen a few of these. some have flickering display, and some with the blank display. I took the car in, but it has been normal since, so there was nothing to diagnose. It has been at/below freezing the past few days, and the radio was fine.

The dealer did show some form of service notice, that there may be an issue, but that they do not have a fix as of yet. The bulletin made note to contact one or two specific persons at GM Tech Services. I wish I had taken down the bulletin number.

I suggest that if this is a repeatable issue for you (say you KNOW it will happen in the morning when around freezing) take it to the dealer and have them park it outside in their locked lot, and have them start it in the morning.

Don't worry guys, this is NOT normal. If it were a normal thing, the manual would have warned of this. GM will get this fixed, we're just on the bleeding edge, so to speak

Had my car since this Feb and never had this problem. I live in New England and we have extremely cold mornings. Just thought I would add to the responses.

"It takes a fair amount of heat to change a suitable substance from a solid into a liquid crystal, and it only takes a little more heat to turn that same liquid crystal into a real liquid. This explains why liquid crystals are very sensitive to temperature and why they are used to make thermometers and mood rings. It also explains why a laptop computer display may act funny in cold weather or during a hot day at the beach."

god forbid you have to wait 3 minutes to see the display of your radio and listen to your tunez brah. i cant believe dat shiznizzle be bumpin up all in ma stylez. i gots to hear da beatses rite when i hit da peddal yo.

First, who are you to be all up in here telling us to not worry about it? If we want to worry about it, it's our right to do so. There is a problem, GM knows it is a problem, and has NOT said that it's normal.

Did you not read what has been said??? THIS IS NOT AN LCD TEMPERATURE PROBLEM. - especially in the 30 degree range... at 0 degrees or below is more of a possibility. There is a problem with the programming, and/or a physical problem with the display.

How many Camaros built to date? How many reporting radio problems? Statistically it probably not yet significant accept for the owner of said vehicle. But GM will get a handle on it with reported complaints. I rather suspect there is a temperature issue with LCD and it could also be caused by a solder joint as mentioned. It only takes one micro circuit with a crack or one ground wire to be loose and you have an issue. These things run on micro amps and with a slight reduction in power and game over.

same problem here in ontario been -2 or -3 a few days and it will do this when its cold outside i've never heard of any other vehicle with an LCD display doing this i mean how could the car manufactors get away with this since on certain vehicles it can be a safety hazard depeneding what information is shown, long story short i took my car to the dealership and a new HU is on the way. i hope it helps but so far i am NOT happy with the car, New transmssion, new HU now and paint chips that the dealers are afraid to touch becuase of the colour of the car (SGM) WTF GM this is the quality you've promissed us? my 01 bonneville was more reliaible (RANT OVER) sorry guys had to say it.
