Dude that sucks but I
you for manning up. I being 18 have had a ticket and I definitely learned my lesson. You just have to respect the car and open it up at the right place (the track). but i invested in a radar and it has payed for itself countless times. Valentine 1 ftw.

Hang on, Snoopy!
You made a mistake and were very fortunate that the worst thing that happened was the ticket (and the temporary loss of the car). You owned up to your mistake (and one that I'll bet nearly 99% of the members here have made - at least once). We all want you to have many years of driving ahead of you. Remember it's not the destination, it's the journey (this will mean a lot more to you in about 40 years).
(And BTW, as someone who works in a high school, your post was VERY well written - something rare for teenagers in this day and age .)

Man, I had the same experience as you did. Except I was going 80 in a 65 on a truck bypass that lets me get off to go to work. And it was in a non-moded import! But for me it ended up being $303 out the door with my traffic school to avoid the insurance hikes. I now have reserved myself to going the actual speed limit. I was amazed today, I was driving with my father and I was cruising at 65 and my dad told me to speed up, I'm in fear of a second ticket. Definitely taught me a lesson.
PS For all of you in SOCAL do not EVER speed or let your guard down in Irvine California. I go to school at UCI and Ive seen 5 accidents in two days from people either being idiots(speeding, texting, etc) or just not paying enough attention(red light cameras)!

WTF?? Have you considered moving to another state? That is insane. I got a speeding ticket in my 89 camaro when i was 18 and all i had to pay was the ticket. No insurance raise, no traffic school. Now i really dont open her up that much. I guess cuz its my first brand new car that i paid for and pretty much grew ouy of the whole reckless driving thing.
Hope all goes well for you man. |

It coulda been a kid on a bike instead of the cop. You're taking accountability and sounds like lesson learned. Makes you feel sheepish, don't it. "What was I thinkin?" Are there any tracks locally? Meybe you should go open it up on the 1/4 mile. When you earn the right to drive it again. Learn how to have that fun the right way, hmm?
Good luck, Snoopy. |

I am sorry for you, but I am impressed with the level of maturity it took to take full responsibilty for your actions...
Maybe by this happening to you now, it will save your life in the future... Things sometimes happen for a reason, and if you learn from your mistakes, you will grow and improve as you get older... Good luck to you and be careful out there so you get to enjoy many more happy driving years ahead!!!

Ooojerry thanks for the warning! My buddy is the Disaster Coordinator for Laguna Nigel and I will have to be triple careful when I go visit him. Thanks again for the headsup.
