Had mine powdercoated at the same time I had the stripes painted. $100 per wheel for everything (including mount/balance, etc):

hey im new here but i have a great cheap alternative, its 6 dollars a can at home depot and 5 cans will do all 4 wheels, and the best thing is it wont hurt the finish of the wheel and it looks great when finished. the answer is Plasti-dip. comes in primer black only

I dont know if your talking to me or not because my name is also john but yes my rims were polished and no it was not hard to sand them at all
check my previous post it is for the do it yourself on painting your rims

 best advice - take your time. buy some epoxy-based paint (VHT makes some) its really quite hard when cured.
