My rear 6X9s rattle when subs on......

My rear 6X9s rattle like they seem to sound almost like distortion when I crank up my system. I just have the BA factory system with the GM factory MTX subs installed.

Is there any way to make the rattling stop? It makes the whole sytem sound like it is full of distortion, but it's not distorting is is definantly a rattle.

Is it your 6x9's or the rear deck. I would put some sound deadening on the rear deck.

I dont have any pics....just climb in the back seat. When looking out the rear glass look right and left to right where the rear deck plastic meets up with the trim pieces on either side. If you push down on the outer deck edges you will see it gives a little and there is a gap between the deck and trim pieces. This is what you are likely hearing rattle. I cut some of that gray insulation foam that you put around the edges of a window air conditioner and wedged it in those gaps. It tightened the rear deck up and now the rattle I had is gone.

I avoid listening to hip hop, It helps eliminate rattles.

In my case it didn't matter what you listened to. It would rattle around even with the subs off.

I'm like you. I tried it without the subs on and it seemed to rattle as much if not worse. And it doesn't matter what you listen to. It is very aggravating.

Thanks for this thread, I was looking to fix this as well. My rattle is horrible and embarrassing, and mostly annoying.

Fixed mine with 50 cents of foam

Not sure if it's the same rattle you're all describing, but mine was caused by the vibration of the rear deck speakers, through the window, hitting the trunk lid. Added an inch long piece of foam to the underside of the trunk lid, where it makes the seal with the body when closed. Problem solved.

I'm not quite finding my rattle. I'd like some pics of where you guys are putting the foam and weather trim etc... to stop the rattle and the type of foam etc or a pic of it too. Mine is horrible, more so now with winter here I drive with the windows up more and the rattle is worse with them up.

I found that my car rattles badly with the stock BA system, I ended up finding that the panel on which the rear speakers sit, is whats rattling like crazy!
I applied ressure with my arm on that panel and the vibration was gone, still trying to figure out how to solve that issue
