Onstar conspiracy?? Car doors locked on own with car running??

About 2 weeks ago I got the notice that my onstar subscription had expired. I did not renew. Today I pulled my car into the driveway outside the garage to wash off the salt since it has snowed. Car is running, keys obviously in the ignition. I hose it off go to get back in and the doors are locked? I go inside to get the spare and the fob won't open the doors but I can key it open. I turned the car off, pull the keys, both fobs work to lock and unlock the doors. Start the car again and try to lock the doors with it running while in park. It won't do it! I think onstar was showing me they can control my car and that I need their service. I'm gonna contact Jessie Ventura and his conspiracy show to check this out!

Yes, because when something (seemingly) unexplainable happens it ALWAYS makes sense to jump to the conclusion that it is due to some corrupt corporate/government conspiracy.

You do realize that for this to be the case someone at OnStar would have had to devote an insane amount of time to watching your every move, waiting for the opportunity to screw you over just because they lost your subscription (which by the way would not have paid for the money required to pay someone to do this)? Seriously, that is more likely than some built in safety feature that locks the doors when the keys are in the ignition and no one is sensed in the front seats to prevent theft? I'd hate to live in your world.......

Seriously, that would be the stupidest feature ever... Sense that the car is running (so key & FOB are IN the car) but no one is in it, so lock the doors??

OP - either you have an electrical gremlin or OnStar really is f***ing with you...

The fob does not work once the car is running.

Yes, it's all OnStar's fault.

Then tell me, how do I get in my car when I use the remote start?

Wow, seriously people. I was joking about this being an onstar conspiracy....but the doors really did lock while the car was running, with no one in it. I cant see why it would do that and even tried to lock the keys in the car while it was running and it won't do it with the fob or by the button on the stereo. So in all seriousness does anyone have any ideas why this may have happened? BTW binlow 84 living in my world is just fine, so long as I continue to take my sanity pills. Relax man, if you take this crap that seriously your world may not be all that great to live in either.

Yeah.... Except each car comes with two key fobs. Besides, it was a SUGGESTION, and one more valid than OnStar sabotaging him. If you really want to know, the most likely scenario is that the door was inadvertently locked before exiting the car. At the risk of calling on a highly overused cliche, I call Occam's Razor on this one.

And as for the second fob not working, try putting your key in the ignition and starting the car and then using the fob. Doesn't work. Once the key is in the ignition at the on position the fobs don't work anymore.

I'll clarify, the fob doesn't work for my (non) remote start equipped car. Once I put the key in the ignition, the key fob buttons stop functioning on both... the one in the ignition and the spare fob.

+1 this is correct, sometimes in the morning I'll take one set of keys and go out and start my car and turn on the heater so it can warm up for when i take my son to school. the key fob WILL NOT lock the doors once the car is running. I use my other set to lock the doors while its warming up using the key.
