the guy that lives across the street from me has a 2006 corvette with only 4000 miles on it.... needless to say it sits all the time. he is a long haul truck driver and is gone for months at a time. I would say his battery will last about 5 months maybe 6 then it goes dead. he has an exchange policy on his new one and many times he has exchanged it for a new one rather than even try to jump it.

Yea, I can tell you from experience that once you have one go really dead they are never the same. Better to just buy a replacement or do a exchange under warranty.

+1, batterys will last much longer if they are in a fully charged state all the time. Once it goes fully dead, the plates will sulfate a bit and won't hold as good as a charge.

I keep telling him to put a tender on the damn thing but he is afraid it will burn his house down..... I know if it were me i would have one on any car that sits around more than a month at a time without being started up and ran.

Ummm, they would have disconnected your battery before they did any work on the car. The OP is asking how long the battery will last if left in the car hooked up. The constant load of the computer/security systems will kill them much sooner than simply unhooking a battery. I have not left the new car sitting, but my fourth gen lasts about 3 weeks. SSN8R |

I left my car for 9 days last september and the battery died. I charged it for 24hrs and have not had any problems but it hasn't sat more than a day since then.

I was gone a month on a trip and when I got back the car wouldn't start and I had to jump it. It's now on a battery tender for winter storage.

I have three 72 month car batteries I keep in a boat over the winter months (5 or so) on my dock where it gets down under 0 degrees ocassionally..... and they always start up in the spring. The only problem some run into is the plates may oxidize. If this happens, it may be worth going to a battery specialist who can "shock" the battery back to life. I have had this done several times with supposed "dead" lead acid batteries, and it does work if the batteries are not to far gone or old.

Dead Camaro Batteries..
When I say dead. I mean dead enough that the car will not turn the starter because the computer won't let it, but the lights and radio still work. this is my definition of a dead camaro battery. It takes about 3-4 weeks outside in the cold, maybe in the warm too, I'm not sure because I start it every day in the summer.

The key won't let the window drop out of the roof rail molding. If you let the window cracked you don't have to force the door open with the window still up in the seal. My wife had a 2lt that the battery went dead on ,and we had to really pull on the door to get the top of the window to come out from under the roof molding. Then, it messed up the indexing and that had to be reprogrammed.

Is your garage heated or do you live in a warm climate? Did you put a tender on it ? my garage is not heated, very cold winters here, tonight it is 19 degrees outside and dropping and I did not put a tender on it.

I leave my music on while I detail it with the car off, generally at least two hours at a time. I also will leave my running lights on, just the Halos, if I'm in and out of the store within 20 minutes. Helps keep people from messing with it I've found. Never had a problem yet and from what I've noticed if it gets dangerously low the cr will cut off the music of the lights until the car is started again.

Camaros
I never had a issue with mine. I just try to start it up every 3 to 4 days. Before I owned the camaro I owned a 2006 G6 and 2008 G6. The batteries DEFINATLEY suck on those cars. I purchased both cars new and on my 2006 I had to get the thing towed out of my garage. My battery went stone dead one day. On my 2008 I had to call up Pontiac Roadside Assistance twice. One day it died in my garage and the another time I was stranded in the cold about 10 degrees got out of a night class and my G6 did not start and left me stranded in a parking lot. I enjoyed my G6's but the batteries sucked
