Real dyno tune for the V6 from HPTuner coming soon (rumor)

The shop that installed my headers uses a tuning program called HP tuner. I went in today to have some O2 extensions installed to hopefully clear the CEL from my headers and high flow cats and they told me that they actually called HP tuner to ask about tuning of the V6 and was told that HP tuner would be releasing an update to allow for tuning of the V6 engine "within a couple weeks".

Take this with a grain of salt but the word came straight from the reps at HP Tuner.

That would be awesome, since I have HPT for my WS6. Unfortunately, I'm not holding my breath. I've asked a few times over on their forum, and Bill from HP usually just says "no". After a few others jumped on board, the answer changed to, "We'll look into it, but it's gonna be a while." They are in the middle of finishing their Dodge programming so that's where the focus is I guess. It would be great if they can figure it out, because the program should include the CTS V6.

they (HPTuner's) do not a phone number to call and there is no V6 update in a couple of weeks. It would be nice if either were true though.

NO one Calls HPtuners, everything is done via Email, and if there were a chance of a V6 tuning solution, it would be posted on the Hptuners boards for all to see.

Ted.

Hey Frost, do you see any full tuning suite coming for this engine? Everyone seems to have written it off.

Is that you that just asked bill on the hptuners forum "if it was coming out anytime soon?". And he said no.

It'd be nice if V6 was available, but anybody saying HP Tuners will have something out soon is full of it.

Yeah, it seems to be at the bottom of their priority list right now, which is a shame. The number of V6's being sold, and the fact that the CTS's run on the same programming, they're really missing out on some customers. They still havn't completely rolled out their Dodge program yet, so I think that's where the focus is.

Too bad !!

especially that the new LT hp power has matched the previous SS hp models, so it is a sport car and it deserves to be treated as a sport car too .

In all of my years of tuning, no one has ever called me about tuning a CTS. I have tuned MANY CTS-V's, but never even been asked about the V6.

? The old SS's frequently made more at the WHEEL than their engines were rated at... My 2001SS (back then) made 308rwhp 100% paper filter stock. The V6 cars do not make that power.

I understand all of your frustrations here, but the performance markets have always catered to the V8 crowd on the domestic side. They are the ones that dumping bug money in, so why's they get the focus. The V6 guys with the older 98-02 cars are still upset because even though their cars are supported, the parameter list is very thin compared to the V8 cars.

This is all just devil's advocate so to speak though... I hope that a solid tuning solution is presented for the cars soon.
