Hey now, higher trap speed should give it a win.... a slight win, but a win nonetheless... Plus I bet the Camaro still won by a few feet(or inches, which can occur in less than 1/10 of a second) given that higher trap speed, and by the fact it's quicker to 100 mph by half a second.

Stock V6 Mustangs are consistantly breaking into the 13s. I've yet to see a V6 Camaro do that. |

This is not the case. These cars were tested at the same time (which makes it a very good comparison). We don't know the track conditons (Density Altitude, etc). Running mid 14s in these tests might be equivalent to high 13s in cold air at sea level. I agree you don't take the fastest time for one car and compare it with the slowest time from another car. But when the cars are tested under the same conditons (same day, same track), then the numbers are more accurate than most. |

it is very evident the Auto transmission, while helpful for the 5.0, is detrimental to the V6's performance. there is no way to argue around that...
Auto camaro v6 VS Auto Mustang V6.... camaro wins/ties...end of story. |

I think low 14's has been done with a manual V6 Camaro: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...est/specs.html I think we could reasonable say a stock auto V6 is a couple of tenths slower, albeit more consistent. So we would say Low to mid 14's. I think the manual V6 Mustang has been high 13's, very low 14's: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...take_road_test http://www.insideline.com/ford/musta...and-video.html Few have really tested the auto with none of the performance upgrades, so why is it wrong to figure it is low to mid 14's. I take from this that the v6 camaro is within 2-3 tenths of the V6 mustang in the 1/4 with the manuals in both being potentially a little faster with the right driver and conditions Okay, I'm done bench racing for the day.

This is pretty apples to apples: This is the first 2.73 geared V6 Mustang V6 (2.73 is the standard gearing for the V6 Auto Mustang) Auto really ever tested, against an equally equipped base RS Camaro V6 Auto, and it was tested on the same day, on the same track, with the same atmospheric conditions, and with the same driver against the Camaro V6. |

Even with the caveat that I'm no professional driver and probably couldn't launch the car well enough to go 0-60 in 5.6 seconds anyway, when a bunch of other professional drivers were getting between 5.9 and 6.1 seconds, I can't help but have doubts. Then again, most reviewers were saying the SS does that sprint in 5.0 seconds, while that new Camaro commercial says it does it in 4.7 seconds, so who knows? |

I'd say these cars would probably go back and forth race for race though even with the mustang broken in. I wouldn't be surprised if the v6's auto trans is set to shift at retarded rpm even under WOT so they could squeak out that 31mpg rating. I haven't driven one yet though, so I'm just speculating. Seems like that must be the case though considering power delivery is almost identical and weight is in favor of the mustang. |

I weighed my 1LT Auto 6 speed with about 4 gallons of gas and it weighed 3700 lbs. My 1LT has the optional 19" polished aluminum wheels and sticker price was $26445. My Camaro is speed limited to 155 MPH compared to the Mustangs 113 MPH limiter. To get the options to get the Mustang to be quicker than a Camaro you have to spend almost $1500 in options on the Mustang. Both cars are very close in performance and would probably come down to a drivers race whether it is on a drag strip or road course. It might boil down to how much gas is in either car or the size of the driver. To me the Camaro LS is a better buy than the Mustang and with connectivity package and a Garmin GPS you have about everything the sync system has in the Mustang.

Glad I got the optional 3.31s in my Mustang. The Genesis auto was putting down some nice times, but I hardly ever see them around. And it was nice to see the improvements to the Challenger V6.
