Is this right?

Hey guys,

So my right rear tire has a puncture on its side wall, it is my understanding that this is unrepairable. I went to my dealer to see how much it would cost to order a new Pirelli and they said $252. Is this right? My car was purchased new less than 7 months ago, and has 11,000 miles on it... is there not some kind of warranty?

usually not on tires. Some shops will pro rate you for the tire giving you a refund for the tred that is left on the tire but the dealership most times won't.

The GM new vehicle tire warranty covers only Original Equipment (OE) tires against defects in material and workmanship.

So your damage is a no-warranty issue unfortunatly.

I would check prices with discount tire. You may be able to find the tire cheaper and with a warranty.

Also check with Jack Furrier's, they offer a total protection plan for a very low price.

Tire Warranty is to protect against defects. The sidewall damage was an accident and would be more of an insurance claim if you ask me.

Just my thoughts….

just had that happen to me I had a huge screw that went through the tire. Went to discount tire and said that it would cost me $260 the pirelli already installed. But I rather chose to go see a local tire shop of a friend he took it off sealed it and just like new for only $10. Try local tire shops but not nation wide retail tire shops like discount tire but rather a local place of someone that fixes/sales tires. Those stores just want to sale so the first thing they say is "oh its unrepairable you need a new one". Well give it a shot I saved a lot of money and looks like nothing ever happened to it.

I hate to bring the bad news but I think at 11k miles, I'd rather change both rear tires. the tread depth differences are too high.

if you want to stick with the pzeros, a LOT of members are changing out tires or wheels and tires, and the pzeros are practically given away around 100$ a tire.. : P

victory, if the damage is on the sidewall, no shop in their right mind will offer to repair it.
