Brake lines have always been a weak spot on GM vehicles. Every one I had blew out a line after 10 or more years. Now I coat them with a roofing tar, then paint over them with used motor oil every 3 years to keep the tar soft.
works. The Camaro seems to have improved lines though.
My 96 & 90 SSE Bonnevilles are still holding up.

just sucks that it was such an important part of the truck to fail.

easy fix call your local Napa store.

our problem with our silverado is Cals, it eats the rear driver side brakes for lunch & dinner lol.
finally getting it fixed, just replacing it.

my truck has never let us down

Well, just picked her up. It came in less than he told me or he took pity on me..whatever works I guess grand total of $1,047.42---around $150.00 in parts and $877 in labor extra $20.00 for shop supplies and environmental fee (WTF). Too bad its still enough to kill the mod budget til tax time unless I can pick up some extra duty jobs. At least it looks like these lines are encased in a protective cover (hope that helps) Happy New Year all

He was driving his roommate's 99 Buick LeSabre and went down a steep hill, through a stop sign, across a highway and under a semi trailer which drug him over 400 feet before it came to a hault. All because a brake line rusted through!

Life Flight Helicopter ride to the E.R., 1 month in a coma, followed by 1 month in a Brain Trauma Rehab unit learning how to walk, talk and eat again. He suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury, but over one year later has recovered at least 90%! He's playing his guitar again and has just started driving again as of 2 weeks ago (with my wife or I in the car with him).

The thing was, another line rusted through and him and his friends lost brake pressure on the NY Thruway just 2 weeks prior to the accident. He called me, and I told him to use the e-brake pedal and release lever to "Limp" the car to the next exit to get it repaired. He took it to some brake / muffler shop, where he told me the guy "patched" the line.

PATCHED the line? WTF? He said it worked fine after that.
After the accident, the car was so mangled the front end was completely unrecognizable, so there was nothing left to "investigate". It went on record that he failed to stop, but I have my suspicions!

PEOPLE UP NORTH, INSPECT YOU BRAKE SYSTEMS!

YOUR LIFE IS HANGING ON THE INTEGRITY OF A PIECE OF 3/16" o.d. .040" WALL THICKNESS TUBING MADE OF MILD STEEL. AND LIKE THE MAN SAID, NO WARNING. IT JUST FAILS!

I'm just lucky to have my best friend (my son) still with me.

Even if he does drive a soup'ed-up Honda S2000!

Glad your son is still alive... GEEZ!!!
Good eye on the tire spot there!!!!!!!!! They are REVO 2's actually and you are correct they are awesome!!!--just put them on the wife's Tahoe too. I have been converted over to Bridgestone and can't wait for them to make Z rated tires that will fit the Camaro (I already wrote them a letter)

Had the same issue with my 97 Grand Prix, lost pressure after a hard stop, nursed it to a local shop, discovered the problem and then had it towed to my shop of choice.
All the lines needed to be custom made, 4 days and 1700$ later
..i invested over half the value of the car into gas and brake lines...Northern winter and salts are very destructive..

Thanks, buddy...

And YES, the Revo's ARE awesome tires, especially in the snow. I put them on the wife's 03 Wrangler before being stationed in Utah. Never a traction or braking problem! I WAS going to put them on her 4X4 Tahoe, but I got 4 Cooper Discoverer HT's on for $625.00 and couldn't turn that down! Like 40% less than the Revos, and won't kill my gas mileage on the family truckster.

Hmm I have a 96 silverado with 200,000 miles on it. I've had a lot go wrong with it as she's gotten older, but nothing with the brakes. Living in the desert does have some benefits.

Sheeesh, How do they get away with charging so much. I have a large coil of 3/16 line and I Mfg. my own line repairs. Think it cost $19 @ JC Whitney.
You have to double flare each connection.

My friend, when you ain't mechanically inclined and you need the truck back in a hurry, it doesn't much matter about the cost cause they had me right where they wanted at that point.
