Question Post pics: 315 Nitto Invo's on 10 inch wheel.

Hey guys... I've got my wheels (TSW Nurburgring - Front 20x9 and Rear 20x10) and am in the process of tire hunting. Don't really know who to believe without seeing them in person. Discount Tire is insisting I go with a 315 Invo on my 10 inch TSW Nurburgring wheels. They and a lot of other keep saying they run smaller than normal 315's. Is this true? I have been told by several sources that a 315 Invo is equivelent to a 305 in many other brands. I am not stuck on the whole 315 thing, but I seem very limited with the correct size 305 while maintaing my correct tire height. I have seen one set of pics on here where a guy is running the 315 Invos on his 10 inch and based on the pics they seem to fit very well. I would just like more opinions or pictures. I would like to avoid a Drag tire also. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

I don't know who started the Invo being "smaller" rumor, but I don't believe that at all. I'd say the Invo 315 is actually the "correct" size for its rating. Some of the other tires just run a bit wider. None of them are "thin" or "skinny" etc...

It all depends on your offset. The rear TSW wheels are already a very aggressive offset, meaning they come out to the fender lip. Running too wide of a tire may cause them to simply stick out. Those wheels will fit/look perfect with a flat sidewall. Any amount of sidewall bulge will simply stick out past the fender. It is all up to your tolerance level of how that looks.

40 mm on the rear.

i have 295's on my new wheels now (20x10). and they fit better, with less bulge. i ran the 315's and had no issues. i do miss the grip that the 315's had, with the supercharger the 295's dont hook up as much as the 315's did.

As for the Invo being smaller, I have heard it many places including Discount and Bell Tire. I also found a pic when going through google which if I can find I will post. It was a pic of a 345 Invo next to a 325 Goodyear. The guy that posted a pic laid what looked like a ruler accross both and they were dead nuts the same height. Based on all that... this is why I brought up the whole do the Invo's run smaller.

Nine Ball... You seem to be the expert around here...What tire set up would you recommend for me. I am not caught up in the whole 315 thing, it's just that the nittos were in my price range. I love the look of the TSW Nurburgring wheel compared to most but if I had to do it again I think I would reconsider due to the offset. I guess I'm stuck now.

In your opinion do you really think that does not look right? They don't seem to buldge that much from the pic.

Now these axis wheels from what I hear have the same offset as my TSW. The guy said he has a 1 inch drop and by the pics I thought it looked ok. It's just hard to make decisions by pictures.

I'm just looking for advice before I spend money on the wrong tire.

Personally, I'd never run a 315 on anything narrower than a 10.5 wheel. That pic above of LTDodge's old wheels definitely has sidewall bulge, since the INVO usually has a perfectly flat sidewall when installed on the proper width wheel. In fact, your car actually will handle better when using a slightly wider wheel, resulting in a slightly stretched sidewall.

Will bulge hurt? Not if you aren't competing in road racing or autocross, or doing death defying high speed curves on the highway. For the majority people who just commute and burn a little rubber from stoplight to stoplight, no biggie.

I'm a bigger wheel/tire fitment critic than most people, but in the end it is really up to what you find acceptable or not. At least if you buy some 315 tires, they will be easy to sell if they don't fit to your liking.

Well, back to the question. You seem to be familiar with the TSW wheel and the offset issue I have. What would you recommend being the critic you say you are? I want a 275 up front on my 9 inch. Without breaking the bank who makes a 275 and a 305 that would work with the dia I need? Can you give me some prices also? Are you just a wheel guy or do you sell tires too?

go with the invo 295 tires...they fit perfect on the 10" wheel. the diameter is a litle smaller than stock but it only throws off the speedometer by 2 mph.
here are some pics

Your right... those 295's look real good on there. Like I stated before. I'm not into the whole 315 craze because of the big number. I just keep getting opinions from so many different people it causes confussion especially when I think these tire places should have all the answers. I guess in most cases its just a bunch of kids behind the counter telling what the think looks cool instead of what is really meant for my wheel.

If you read my replies above carefully, you'd already know that I suggest less than a 315 for those wheels.

Those Nitto 295/35-20 tires above fit perfectly on a 10" wheel. If you can find a 295/40-20 tire (another brand), they would probably look even better. A bit taller than stock, but also would close the wheel gap some.

i found the TOYO TIRES PROXES ST II on performanceplustire.com in a 295/40/20 size for $180.00 and it has a 420 tire wear rating! may go that route when my tires need replacement
