I haven't seen any of the Fast and Furious. I'm guessing it's a line from the movie.

I was on my departments SWAT team (ERT), for nine years. You see some really crazy stuff. We once busted down a door and caught a lesbian banging her lover with a strap on. If that wasn’t bad enough we had to chase her down the hall as she tried to run to the bathroom and flush her stash. Sorry, you just can’t make that stuff up and a movie will never capture reality!

As to the original question…Do it… you love the rush!

Our department is too small for swat, however I have friends at larger departments, and they love it! I say go for it!

Since I contributed to the thread jacking, I will say this.
I am currently going to school for a BA in Criminal Justice. I know that when I graduate I might not immediately find the kind of job that I am looking for at the federal level. So if I don't, I plan on joining the local police department's SWAT.
It's a good stepping stone to make your way up to the "big boys"

If your into fitness and like extra training go for SWAT (TRT, ERT) or what ever your department calls it. Down side is your on call with most departments and interferes with family functions. Funny how a lot of stuff goes down around holidays when you might have other plans. As others have said being a LEO is the greatest show on earth. Some Federal officers don't get into as much as local officers but one thing any type of Law Enforcement involves is dealing with people. Developing your inter personal skills is very important and some times over looked.
