Talking The Stainless Works Integrated Merge Spike

Performance Headers: About the integrated merge spike

Small details can make a big difference when it comes to performance.

Stainless Works headers just got even better thanks to the new
integrated merge spike. Designed to promote even better airflow, all Stainless Works V8 long-tube headers are now manufactured with high-performance, integrated merge-spikes.*

Increased Power

Too much air resistance or back-pressure, can make it difficult for the cylinders to expel exhaust, restricting an engine's power. Merge spikes help reduce turbulence, which means less back-pressure; allowing your engine to unleash more power.

Better Scavenging

Inspired by race-system technology and performance dyno testing, the Stainless Works merge spike was developed to direct airflow towards the center of the collector, which helps promote scavenging.

Improved Sound

The other benefits of creating a more directional airflow is that the turbulence within the collector is reduced; improving performance, and generating a purer sound.

*excludes 6 cylinder, turbo and shorty headers.

If you have any questions about this or any Stainless Works products feel free to shoot me a PM.

Ok then Apex..

Kooks or Stainless works? I have no experience with stainless works and have been a long time kooks fan, but have heard good things recently.

Likewise. My SW long tubes are great.

Any idea how much extra power these generate over the older stainless works headers? Have you heard a before and after on how these change the sound?

Not yet, they just announced it to us so details are forthcoming. Rest assured that I am being a pest on you guys behalf!

The new Stainless Works Step Headers are already making about 8rwhp more than the comparable straight tube already so I'm really excited to see what this addition does.

I'm a noob when it comes to headers, but will these bolt right up to a Borla 3" cat back?

Thanks in advance

I agree, another great post by Brantley. Keep up the good work.

I guess by the massive amount of responses it is kooks.

They can be used with other exhaust systems, including Borla.

There is rarely a blanket "best" when it comes to performance parts. In this case there are several companies that make an excellent product and could provide compelling arguments for why you should go with their products. As the end user you have to do your research and decide which is best for your application. Here is a good starting point.
