Just reading all these responses gets me all warm and fuzzy inside. You guys (and gals) know...it's been a looong time on this site. And...to finally see things roll out and begin to happen...it really makes me happy. I love to see the enthusiasm, the joy, the friendship, the excitement...

After reading this thread on the ABM, I'm finally at ease with ABM as my choosen color. I bet meeting Scott and everyone was well worth the trip.

One interesting that that I was told by Scott's lovely assistant was that Ambient Lighting is now restricted to the door panels and no longer is in the dashboard trim. I don't know if that was mentioned before, but it was news to me.
First of all.....WTF!!!!!!!!!! thats soo upsetting, i hope that this doesnt come out to be like this, that would look ugly! Wow, that made me upset... i know your sure this what you heard...but are you sure?
Hey Fixxer, since you ordered IOM, what did you think about the IOM trim package, does it look as nice as it does in the pictures?

This is what she told me. I couldn't believe it either. She said it was simply too distracting to drive with it on at night, so it will be restricted to the doors. I figured they would have some dimmer control or something, but I guess not.

UHG! I'm green w/ envy!
I didnt even know about this. How did I miss it?
I'd a made the trip for certain. DOH!
Is the DC show gonna be anything like this? My guess is probably not if the PA show is still going on next weekend during the DC show.
Where do I find details about the shows like this for future reference?

as far as the ambient lighting only on the sides. Honestly im surprised this didnt come out earlier. the instrument gauges in front of the driver all ready light up as well as the console. Not to mention this probably simplifies things a lot as the lights only have to be steady for a single area rather than a very skinny elongated area around the car. I would glady take this at the start of production than nothing at all.

I had no idea that they had any intention of configuring the ABL to be on during normal driving. I thought it was just going to be something that would come on once you turn the key and start the car or turn it off. Having it on all of the time would be stupid, distracting, and tacky. Additionally, if it doesn't go across the dash to connect the door panels, I think it is going to look dumb and I'd rather not have it at all.

ABL on doors only? Ummmmm.......no.

I agree that it will look ""...talk about breaking up the nice, flowing, ice blue light from one side to another. I don't think the reason "it will be distracting" is the real reason it would only be offered on the doors. I have a good feeling there's more to it than that.

Better have my ABL working...

not trying to stir up the masses....but i do need to express my unhappiness w/ hearing this news. ....and I'm beginning to think putting a hold on my order till this gets straightened out once again is in order. I DO NOT want to have ABL on doors only to have it come out later in the production run on the entire dash too. That would just PISS ME OFF!

I'm sorry for my rant. But this is one thing (besides gas cap, b-pillar, etc) that I can complain about and hope gets "completed" before production.

Samantha made mention there was a gap in the trim that would not look as good on the dash. She stated the only parts that would light would be the doors.

This was the first time I have seen the actual production car and I found that pictures really do not even come close to doing this car justice. In person, its stance is more aggressive and its definitely more sleek and not as tall as some pictures seem to indicate. We were able to sit in all of the cars, which I did, of course. The interior has a "snug" but not cramped feeling - its like the car wraps around you - it almost feels like you are a part of the car. I am 6' and a broad 215, and it felt perfect. Plenty of head room. I loved how the center console "met" my arm/elbow perfectly, and the shifter of the manual cars felt perfectly positioned. The back seat holds true to Camaro tradition - although the seats are nicer than the 4th gens', it actually looks like less leg room. I'm confident that the finished interior will be top notch.

Scott indicated that issues with the ambient lighting and some interior "itches" were among the reasons of production being pushed back. It was also mentioned that the wipers will be speed variable.

Thanks to Scott and the Camaro team for putting this together - it definitely renewed my patience for my order.
Hey, thanks for the info!! I am 6'4" (long legs) and about same weight as you. Could you tell me if you think I'd fit comfortably in this car? That is my main concern at this time. Thanks much!!
