Trust me. You will pull as much crap off of a white car as a dark car. If you haven't done it yet, I think you will be surprised. I clayed my SIM a week after I got it brand new. Pretty much trashed the clay bar.

I really don't think there is a visual difference when you clay bar. I have an IOM and all I could do was the plastic bag test. Put your hand in a plastic bag, (sandwich) and lighty rub it across a part of your car. You will feel the bumps and imperfections. After you clay, you will feel a smooth surface when you do it again.
I did this test for a friend on his vehicle and he was amazed after I clayed a small part of it. He's a believer now. |

The process of claying removes all of the contamination from your paint. It does absolutely nothing for swirls or scratches, nor does it make paint shine by itself. Once you get a better understanding of claying, you'll realize why your request is baffling to those of us who understand what claying does.

Clay cleans the paint, thats it. Doesn't remove scratches, doesn't increase gloss, doesn't physically change the paint in any way. Its purely for decontamination of the surface prior to polishing and/or waxing. The best I can do for you in terms of a visual representation is a quickie video I shot utilizing the hood of a friends work truck which had never been clayed/waxed. It barely gets washed as its just a work truck, visually theres no real discernible difference from one side to another, but the removal of contaminants from the paint is obvious by the fact you can actually hear the texture on the unclayed side. Now for the aftermath - this claybar was used on only HALF of that hood... and the entire truck had just gotten a wash. So this just shows how much stuff is pulled up by clay. Small particles of bonded contamination (iron deposits, tree sap, overspray, fallout, mineral deposits, bug guts, etc) that can't be removed by washing: ![]() Quote:
Clay does have a visual impact, but not one that will easily be shown on the web, and one that might not even be that noticeable in person (except maybe for darker colored spots on a white paint job) The impact of clay is part of the 'whole'. If you polish and wax a contaminated paintjob, even if you get the finish glossy, the small particles will hamper the reflection, causing light to bounce in other directions. So in a way its not the stuff on the paint that has the impact, but what it does to the reflected light. In the end clay ends up helping with clarity of the reflection so in an indirect way it has a big impact on the finish. |

On a white 4th gen, you can see heavy buildup of contaminants here. Its not dirt... this is just contamination.
![]() ....more ![]() Same spot after claying. With a car in this poor of shape, you can actually see the car get brighter! However with a much newer car it won't be as big of a difference.

well the guys have already said it.....its not something you can SEE....BUT, the difference IS something you can FEEL. I just bought a used "work car" for my wife, the lady we bought it from took real good care of it, always garage kept, and hand washed once a week. When we went to pick it up, we were in my Camaro, we were talking and I had her FEEL my car.....she couldn't believe it.... NOW she knows what a REALLY well kept car looks AND feels like.
