The rocky mountain Jammer is a joke. To get by FCC rules the things have to be so underpowered they couldn't block anything. They sell you one saying they will pay your tickets but it's a nightmare to get them to do it.

Possession of a radar detector is illegal in Ontario. You can't have one in your car - even if it's unplugged, disconnected or in a box... kinda like an open bottle of booze!
As a matter of fact, the cops here have "radar detector detectors"! If a cop picks up a signal from his unit that tells him that there's one in your car, he can force you to hand it over - and you receive a fine.
A buddy of mine had a radar detector hard-wired into his Porsche. The cop pulled him over because his "detector" "saw" my buddy's detector. My buddy played stupid, because it was really well-hidden. So the cop says that unless he hands it over, he's gonna impound the car and keep tearing it apart until the unit can be found... all of a sudden, my friend remembered he had one and showed the cop where it was.
Bottom line is, that if you don't drive with a radar detector, you learn to adapt. Different people have different ways of adapting!

Best regardSS,

Elie

I would have gotten it thrown out of court .

This is the guy i get my info from. He used to be a traffic cop and now trains cops to use radar detectors

I wouldn't use a "certified instructor" to get tech info. Thats like you saying your a "certified driver" (because you have a license) so you can design a car.

UUmm ,that makes no sense whatsoever.Let's see. He knows all the laws regarding traffic violations. He trains police officers to use radar and lidar guns. He participates in REAL WORLD tests for radar detectors.

Also at CES 2 years ago he went up to the Rocky mountain radar booth with $5,000 in cash.Told them if they can jam his radar gun he would give them the cash. They wouldn't accept the Challenge. Jamming radar is 100% illegal, you can only jam lidar for now.

I only use a radar/laser detector so I will know I am being had. I generally don't speed but this makes me look at my speedometer to make sure just how fast I am going at the time. A sure way to get a ticket is to tell the officer, you don't know why you were pulled over when he asks. ( if you know you were speeding) He will think your an idiot and give you a ticket. Honesty may just get you a warning.
Just remember, don't be pulled over for speeding, because you forgot to turn on your detector, you will want to kick yourself.

Forget the toys, get a K40. Mount it in the grill, you can hide the display.

They are the best and most concealable.

I just don't know about all of this. A radar detector-detector? For real? I know it's possible, but I just don't know.

And a cop was really going to "keep tearing it apart" over a misdemeanor? Really?

Yep there is such a thing. There is only one detector that I know of that is completly invisible. The Beltronic STi. They can sit the detector and the STi next to one another and the detector never even made a peep.

detector detector is a fact, states that make detectors illegal equipt the police with detector detectors. Kind of old technology like military aircraft use to detect a signal they are being locked on.

I believe all Virginia State troopers use them.
