To the best of my knowledge, GM has never officialy said they would have it, have they? If so can someone direct me to it? I know it's in some of the cars but I kinda liked the center console going all the way over the back seat but that's not the way it is. Can't complain cause they never officialy said it would in the production car. MSRP doesn't say anything about it. This is what happens when they give so much info so far in advance. I wonder if they regret it at all? I looked for it in the ordering guide and workbook but only found "Factory Illumination Package" but no explanation. Where is the GM official explanation?
Just wondering.
From the FAQ on Chevylaunch

Is there anything unique about the interior styling of Camaro coupe?

Inside, Camaro coupe offers available four-pack gauges in the center console, a “deep- dish” thick grip, three-spoke steering wheel, available ambient lighting, contemporary graphics, oversized knobs with chrome detail and contemporary, comfortable seating. Design inspiration was drawn not only from the First Generation Camaro, but also various consumer products such as stylish cell phones, appliances and wristwatches.

From the Product description on Chevylaunch

Interior

* Single-zone air conditioning
* Coat hooks, driver and passenger side rear
* Floor console with armrest
* Electric rear window defogger
* Power door locks
* Power windows
* Lockable glove box
* Power outlets (two)
* Remote Keyless Entry
* AM/FM/XM with 6 speakers (80 watts), CD player and MP3 playback
* “Deep-dish” thick grip, three-spoke steering wheel
* Ambient light pipe technology around all gauges
* Front Sport bucket seats with power recline, adjustable head restraints
* Folding rear seat with trunk pass-through
* PASSkey III theft-deterrent system

Interior Accent Package

Camaro coupe offers an Interior Accent Package. A black interior is complemented with the following Inferno Orange accented features:

* Leather seating surfaces
* Steering wheel

* Instrument panel
* Door trim
* Light piping

Page 5 of the Salesperson Reference Guide in the bottom-middle of the page states;

Special lighting around all gauges to give a “floating” appearance

Probably not the same item, but on the back side of the Camaro Ordering Reference, and on page 8 of the Initial Ordering Workbook, it states;

Lighting: front reading lamps, interior dome with illuminated entry and theatre dimming

Page 14 of the Initial Ordering Workbook states;

INTERIOR

Interior Trim Kit
Camaro owners who have the factory Illumination
Package
can add even more color options with this
available trim kit.

SO,

There are several locations that GM has mentioned this technology and it's still showing up on the product description section on Chevylaunch, so I think it's gonna be there. At least I hope it is.

Seems like a simple tactic to me.
The thing I don't understand is, Ford has it on the new Rustang, so how hard could it be?

As long someone comes up with an aftermarket kit for the dash, I'll be happy.
But I'd be even happier if GM gets all the bugs worked out and gives us working ABL on doors AND dash.

Makes sense. It'd be difficult to have a material that was dash colored when off, but illuminated blue.

I thought the dash was just like the doors, a silver but translucent color that had blue lighting behind it? I'm failing to see why this couldn't work.

We can speculate all day on what the materials being used are. Until I can actually see them I can make no judgement. I've heard everything from LEDs to fiber optics.

I think they're all correct. It's a translucent colored plastic (silver or beige) with a LED light pipe behind it. This is similar to "fiber optics" (and often referred to as such) but not really. Here's an example of what I'm referring to...

That keeps saying "around gauges" though. The ambient lighting we're talking about runs across the dash and in the door panels. The gauges would have a "floating appearance" if it was backlit and the actual gauge was lifted off of the light source. I think the "floating gauges" are there.

if its going to only be on the doors or if it is delayed I HOPE GM will let us

know this BEFORE production starts so we have the option to make any

changes.(like cancil and reorder later) I dont like the idea of paying for something I will not get.

Only on the doors? that would look like rice!

Unfortunately there is a tiny disclaimer at the bottom that states, " product information is preliminary. production models may vary."

I actually did see most of these. As far as the FAQ, well 'Ambient Lighting' could absolutely be in the door only. It still falls under the def. of Ambient Lighting.
Google, 'light pipe technology' and see what you come up with. The description is congruent to what you would see at the borders of gauges in the car. Surrounding the gauges.

I hope they do get the lighting across the dash. All I'm saying is I still haven't found any official word that it will. If you were to buy the car and demand money back or demand them take some off of the price of the car because of the ABL not being what you thought it was, how would you justify it? You can't just say, "I thought the ABL would go all the way across the dash" They'll ask who told you that and then what?

If Scott said (and I haven't seen it from him) it will, then based on my experience on this site, it will. But we'll just have to wait and see.

Which is exactly why no GM rep will talk about it. They must figure it's better to say nothing at all.
