Riley Hospital and Children a Top Priority for Camaro Club
Central Indiana Camaro Club to Donate $23,000 to Riley Hospital

INDIANAPOLIS – Fifteen member of the Central Indiana Camaro Club will present a $23,000 check to Riley Hospital for Children on Saturday, January 31, at 10:30 a.m. Dr. Jeff Speering, associate medical officer and director of pediatric hospitalist program at Riley Hospital for Children, and a Camaro enthusiast, is scheduled to accept the check in appreciation of the generosity of the club. The presentation will take place in the Riley Hospital atrium; the club will then tour Indiana’s only comprehensive children’s hospital.

In September, the Central Indiana Camaro Club, General Motors and IMS put on a show at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (http://www.indycamaro.com/Indy08) for Camaro enthusiasts to celebrate the reintroduction of the Camaro. More than 500 Camaro, Firebird and Corvette enthusiasts attended. Volunteers from the Central Indiana Camaro Club, the Indy Firebird Club and IndipalaSS Club worked together to organize the show and raise money for Riley Hospital.

“During this event, GM donated many awesome items for a charity auction with the intentions of proceeds going to Riley Hospital,” said Greg Franks, treasurer of the Central Indiana Camaro Club. “This income, coupled with proceeds from event registrations, has left us with a donation of $23,000 for Riley Hospital.”

“The decision to provide funds to Riley Hospital was impacted by several club members that know of or have friends with kids Riley has treated,” said Franks. “The good work Riley Hospital does for kids is what drove our decision. It does not take much looking to find someone that has been touched by the good work Riley has done.”

The Central Indiana Camaro Club is Indiana's oldest and largest Camaro Association.Formed in 1983 in Kokomo and relocated in 1987 to Indianapolis. The club is open to all Camaro enthusiasts and meets the first Monday of the month at 7 pm at Bill Estes Chevrolet on the north side of Indianapolis. The Central Indiana Camaro Club promotes itself as a family oriented club and tries to plan as many activities to include family members several times a year.

Thanks again to you Mike and all the Indy Camaro Club who did a first rate job. IMS was also extremely generous. I had an incredible time and can't wait to do it again. I known there was talk about doing it again in 2010. Is this still a possibility?

Yes it has been discussed. Ultimately it will come down to GM, and if they have any funding available for such activities. Hopefully when the Camaro hits the showrooms and is a huge success and drawing people into showrooms right and left to sell them Chevies (any of them) they will want to celebrate the re-birth of both the Camaro AND GM!!!!

And you're welcome Hylton, it was a lot of work, stress, and even some hair-pulling. There were some hiccups (there always are!) but all and all came off pretty well. The incredible amount of excitement and enthusiasm shown by you guys was so COOL, it made it all SO worth it!!!!!
