Simply put, the styling. Automakers always release these great concept vehicles, then tone it down for mass production, mostly with tragic results...but the Camaro looked (and looks) like a concept vehicle, I love it. Not a Chevy nutswinger, I like what I like, I dont care who makes it. Also, 1st - 4th gen Camaros dont interest me in the least...and just as I would never own a Jeep "Video Game" model, I would never own a special edition car based on a movie whos target audience is 12 year old boys.

I had a 69 when I was younger. Loved the 5th gen styling when I saw it. Reminds me so much of the 69. I bought it as a daily driver.

Okay, I have told this story before on other similar threads, but I’ll tell it one more time. First of all my dad was always a Chevy guy. I was looking for a new car as my 2002 Intrepid had 130,000 mi on it. We had looked at a lot of different makes/models of cars & test drove many, but I didn’t like anything I had seen. :( Then one day my husband, Mike, drove home a Crossfire he had bought just for a toy without talking to me first. I was livid & said “Okay, it is on! I’m getting whatever I want now”. I took a day off determined to test drive everything I ever thought I wanted. My brother-in-law had suggested I should get a Camaro. I was not taken with the initial pics I saw of it. I just thought it looked angry. I drove lot of cars that day including the Camaro. When I drove the Camaro I immediately got this OMG feeling & the permagrin set in. That evening Mike asked me about each car & I told him my likes/dislikes of each. When I talked about the Camaro I was excited & Mike said I just lit up. He said he could tell that if I got anything else I was not going to be happy. I was mad at the sales chick at our local dealership because of the way she treated me. That weekend we drove to another dealership where on-line they had one in the color I wanted (the only thing I knew from day 1 I wanted in a new car was the color). It was gone but the dealer was desperate to sell something as interstate construction was taking a big bite out of their sales. They found me one exactly like I wanted & gave me a killer deal so I bought it. Monday afternoon I drove Ruby home & have been in love with it ever since.

My Dad's first car was a 69 Kelly Green Convertible. My Mom's first car was a 69 White Convertible. They met in '70 and the rest is history.

I was debating between the Challenger and the Camaro ... The decision was obvious.

My family is definitely not a Chevy family, I think I'm actually the first with a GM Car, and I couldn't be happier. I saw the concept on Transformers and I fell in love with it, and last year I started seeing them around and I just knew I had to have one so after waiting a year I got mine

After 11 years of having owned a 99 Dodge Intrepid (that I still own today and use as a beater car) I was finally in the market for a new car. I had never had a performance car of any kind so I figured why not now at the age of 37 (at the time). I wanted something I would enjoy driving as I do a lot of driving for work and wanted something with a lot of power. My father is an old MOPAR man so I started out looking at the Challenger and Charger SRT8's but they were out of my price range. I looked at the Mustang as well but the 2010 GTs with 315 or so HP just didn't do it for me and the GT500 was too far out of my range. I had seen pictures of the new Camaro but didn't take to it until I saw it in person and sat in it and then the decision was made. 426HP in the low $30G range compared to the upper $40G's with an SRT8 or GT500 and the LS3 having been proven in the Vettes for a few years already had me sold. Of course I immdeiately started to get the "Mod bug" and CAI/Long Tubes/Springs/Sways/Wheels/Tires/Cam swap later and I am approaching what I would have paid for an SRT8 but at least I am enjoying the ride and learning a lot along the way.

I wish I had more of a nostalgic story and a history with GM and the Camaro from my teen years but it really came down to it just being a really cool car with a lot of power at a really good price.

After driving a G8 GT for a bit I realized I needed another rear drive V8 car. I was going for a Z06 but I was reminded that I needed a rear seat. It was a coin toss between the Camaro and Challenger.

I've never been a chevy guy, ever! Infact I was thinking Mustang or Challenger for my toy when the time came. Then the Transformers Movie came out and I was interested, but I still wasn't hooked. When it came time to go shopping I looked at the Mustang first and I couldn't fit inside it. Then I headed on over to the dodge dealership and jumped in the Challenger SRT-8 and liked everything about it, but I thought the price was way too high. I decided to give the Camaro a glance, thinking I would go back and buy the Challenger. Well I got in the Camaro and I was shocked at how well I fit in it. After driving it for a few miles the blind spots went away (or I just didn't care anymore). I ended up going back a week later and driving two more Camaro's. The local guy wouldn't give me a good deal or take me seriously, so I ended up ordering from Becky @ Rodgers Chevrolet, and the car was delivered to me 8 weeks later at the local dealership. Now I'm even considering Chevy for my next truck, but I'm still leaning the Ram way when the time comes.

For me it was the styling.A few years ago i tried to purchase a 1ss and the dealership ended up closing its chevy portion and sent the cars back they had ordered.I did how ever purchase a challenger rt and it was too wobbly for me when getting on it.I traded that in on a C5 vette. As much as i love the vette my heart really wants the camaro. The styling and ls3 is what draws me to it.I hope to have my ss in a few weeks.

I had been admiring the Camaro for years!!! 2010 was a horrible year for my family!!!
My mother died on April 22,2010 at the age of 63. After a 10 year battle with heart desease, conjestive heart failure she finally went into kidney failure and liver failure and the beginning of 2010. Her very first new car was a 1969 Camaro. Growing up, she always talked about it, it was her favorite car she ever owned in her life. One of her few regets in life was that she let that car go!! But I was born in 1973 and since my father did not drive, they needed a family vehicle. After she passed, I decided to have some of the old home movies put on DVD. As my family watched them, I was shocked to see my mother sitting in her '69 blue camaro(w black top) parked in front of our first house, smiling and waving at my father(who doing the filming) I had never seen any pictures of the car!!! I knew then, that she would want me to have MY Camaro. So after a long talk with my wife, I found a 2011 Imperial Blue Metalic 1Lt, and with some of the mother my mother left us, bought my dream car!!!!!

im a chevy guy, its in my blood. my dad had a tri five and a 69 el camino as a kid. my grandpa bought a 65 el camino new in 65, gave it to me when i turned 16. i have always loved the 69 camaro and told my dad we will rebuild one together somday, no matter what.
sometime after that i heard the camaro was not going to be made anymore. i was shocked they would just give an amrican legend the ax like that. now that 69 was even moreimportant to me since the mustang was able to dominate worry free (my parents had fords when i as a kid, they always broke down on us. hate em!)
so then rumors stat flying around the internet about a revivwl. some concept scetches get out, only to be debunked as fakes. a fw more years go by and chevy unveils it. the concept camaro. i nearly wet myself and faint at the overdose of awesome. then i hear bumblebee will be a new camaro in the movie (i am also an 80's nerd and love transformers), although i cant bring myself to buy a yellow one because i think its more important to own a camaro, not a transformer.

so i might finally get a cgm 1ss 6mt soon. maybe...

(btw my dad has the 65 el camino aka heirloom now. and he added a 67 stingray 427!)

I had just paid off my 2009 Scion tC in June and was looking forward to paychecks without auto payments when I saw an online banner for the 2010 Camaro. The car's styling captivated me and once I started researching it further, I realized it was a helluva machine for the money, too.

I went one paycheck without an auto payment and then traded in my tC (about which I have nothing but good things to say) for a 2010 2LT RS Camaro in Cyber Gray Metallic which was very similar to my tC's Flint Micah body color.
