it appears that they had it down pat there so i dont see what would change?
Yeah that vid was beautifull, but it had dead spots, the more you watch, the more you can see it. They wanted a niice even flow around the doors and dash, and the problem they stated that they were having was the dash in high heat cycles would split. So the doors are a go apparently and not the dash. ANd another point that was heard was that the dash would have a space which would not look right.....my question is if that little gap doesnt look right, then why would the lit door panel, and then a large gap (Dash not being lit), and then lit door panel look right?
The good thing is that Scott said that they will only put it in the car if it looks right. I hope they dont belive that the doors only looks "right"

our72gto, wasn't your order finalized? Now I know this isn't the case but what if ABL was the deciding factor for you between the 1SS and 2SS? So let's say your current order is for the 2SS going off the idea that ABL will be there. Now what if 3 weeks from now GM comes out and says ABL isn't gonna happen. What now? You've already put in your order and you can't change it. You're stuck with paying $3k (USD or what not, don't recall the canadian difference) for a package that you really would rather not have. So, do you try and convince your dealer to order you another car? Do you just eat the extra cost? How is this fair? The lack of information in the past was one thing when we could still change our orders if GM decided to change something but now that some people cannot (this number will be increasing dramatically shortly) they need to come clean with their plans for ABL. Whatever those plans may be, telling us not to worry about it is NOT going to solve anything.

And I'll take option #4. Keep asking/begging/demanding some answers until GM finally tells us WTF is going on.

Isn't delivery just a weeeeee bit late? Wouldn't telling us what's up be just make a little bit more sense and be easier on everyone involved? Why don't they just ship everyone v6's and then tell them to whine about it when it gets there and they ordered a v8.

OK the reason GM is having trouble with ABL is because when they tested the ABL on people they went into shock from pure awesomeness, also the light was so powerful that it started to melt the car. thus there is a liability issue.

j/k sorry. but people at GM have a lot in there hands right now and there extremely worried that you wont be pleased.

A picture to remind everyone what we're fighting for. (taken straight from the Camaro website)

It would be a huge blunder on their part for one of the few things they show on their website to not end up existing.

And just look how that dash light completes the interior, if it were photoshopped out it just wouldn't be the same.

Folks, ambient lighting is not a new thing and by the time the Camaro starts hitting the streets, a lot of the wow-factor you are expecting will have come and gone.

Ambient lighting has been offered in the Mustang since the 2008 model year and is available in Ford's Flex, Focus and Fusion vehicles, as well. Chrysler offers it in their Aspen SUV, Town & Country minivan and other vehilces. Toyota's Scion nameplate has offered it in their models for a several years.

Getting worked up over whether or not there is ambient lighting in the Camaro, or how much there will be, seems like much ado about almost nothing, IMHO. Unless of course you like the idea of standing in a parking lot showing off your new Camaro to everyone when your Mom pulls up in her Chrysler minivan or Ford Focus sporting the same "high-tech and cool" feature.

This system is completely new...why do you think GM is having trouble with it? It's Ambient Lighting 2.0...no other cars have it.

This is part of the reason i want a 2LT/RS.. Because i love all my goodies. If i wanted raw power.. I would get an SS.. But i want goodies and since they aren't telling us im not putting an order in.. The ambient lighting completes the interior and im happy StoutFlies is standing up for the rest of us. If the rest of you guys couldn't have a part of your SS i'm sure you would feel the same if it was one of the major decision factors between one trim level and another. Just my Opinion

Hey did you guys ever think that the problem for across-the-dash.. may be a legal issue? Cause it may obstruct your view of the road at night? That's what I was thinking may be causing a delay, like they are trying to dim that part or something so the glow does not interfere with your view..... Just some food for thought.

Correct. The dash would need to dim considerably after ignition...it couldn't be that bright while night driving.

If it were a problem they would probably put it on a dimmer and fade it out. I think armor-all on the dash makes it hard to see in the day without polarized glasses and people still do it. That weird layer of greasy film on the inside of customer cars is weird too.
