Good luck with the Stang! Ford needs the help since the Camaro out-sold the Mustang by almost 2 to 1 in the month February!

Personally, the Mustang looks alot better to me then the Camaro. I dont like the rear ends on both cars but the Camaro's is far uglier to me. Interior wise, even the GT's hasnt changed much. I still prefer it over the interior on the Camaros, i think there 1 of the worse interiors out there for a "performance/muscle" car. Im considering both as a future car but im being honest.

Performance wise, the Camaro has a bigger aftermarket but thats mainly due to the Mustangs 5.0 engine being new. While the Ls3 has been out for a few years. Its good that your test driving both cars. Get a feel for both of them and see which you like more. In the end, there 2 very good performance vehicles that are out right now and im sure you'll be happy with either car.

I like Mustangs, but how could you call this booty ugly?

As one who owns a SuperCharged 2010 SS and a 2011 GT500, IMHO, the 5.0 is a better buy..... lighter, faster, even better with the 3.73 gears. The 5th gen camaro is still new, so it still gets more looks but that will change in time, sooner than later. 90% of the people who admire the Camaro do so because of the Transformers movie. I know this because when I drive my Camaro, people who ask, stare, comment about the car are young (mostly teens, kids, women) and the type that I wouldn't consider, "car people." On the other hand, people who approach and comment on my "Mustang" are the "car type" people. Despite of its solid axle, I feel the 2011 Mustang Gt (one I test drove) actually handles better than the SS. I always test drive in the Santa Monica Mountains, 10 miles from my work and dealerships.
The cam5 5th gen forum is very active now because again, the car is new. Just like the Mustang GT forums are starting to get busy again.
What I really dislike about the 5th Gen Camaro....the weight and soft suspension.

While the Camaro wins in the exterior appearance category the Mustang excelled in the performance category. Since performance is most important to me I am going with the Mustang 6M and the optional 3.73 rear gear. I had previously driven the Mustang with the 3.73 gear and it was most impressive. If Ford offered a 4:10 from the factory I would go with that one.
Thanks again.
Congrats. You made the right choice. Your car, your choice.

Are you aware that the quickest 2011 GT's are the one's with the taller rear gears like 3.31's. I think 3.73's are the slowest rear gear option for the manual, but its the best if you plan on DR's.

Stock for stock performance wise Mustang 5.0 wins. Not by much but it does in virtually all categories. I was torn myself, I wanted this car since the concept, but when I found out about the weight, I was set to cancel my order and get a used GT-500 till my wife talked me out of it and I kept coming back to damn that is a bad ass looking car. The "wow" factor if you will.

So I decided to get it and slap a blower on it to get where I wanted, 4.6 2v and 3v Mustang boys have been doing that for years to keep up w/ the Camaro ever since the LS motors came out, so I figured if it was good for them, it was good for me.

The LS motors really take to mods. I mean I have headers, exhaust, a CAI and a Whipple on the stock pulley and ran a high 10 second pass on stock size drag radials w/ no weight reduction. Thats it no other mods. So I have a fast car that has that wow factor. Best of both worlds. I believe I made the right choice. I certainly am very glad I did make the one I did.

Good luck on your choice.

Don't come to a camaro forum looking for honest opinions. Get what you like the most. Don't worry about what other say and mostly enjoy it. I believe that for me right now the mustang 5.0 VS the SS camaro puts the mustang on top with all the refinement the mustang has along with the lighter feel. I just can't stand the look of the back side on the mustang.

Me too. I had a 2005 GT and loved the look. The really screwed up the back end on the 2010 to 11 so bad that no power and refinement in the world would make me want one.

Heres his dyno for his stock 2011 gt if anyone is interested. I believe he has 600 miles on it, so I suspect the numbers will increase a bit once his engine breaks in more.
