ps: btw I know I probably sound like a total dunce, but I'm just tryin to get my car badass like some of the other guys/gals around here ya know?
dont worry we will answer all of your questions.

LTs= long tube headers, and in simple terms when buying LTs you have a choice to get cats or not. no cats will make the car louder.

if you have cats or no cats you will still have a check engine light on either way if not tuned . people get high flow cats mainly to have a smoother sound and reduce sound and the car is also more emission friendly. but it will still be loud with cats trust me. most people have catted mid pipes here

do not call your dealership to have them turn off a check engine light, very bad idea. and i am happy we can tell you this before you call. the main reason why people dont tune is because of warranty, but you if take your car into the dealership with LTs on and you have a check engine light on, that will not look good.

allot of people put LTs on and take them off if they need to go into the dealership.

comes down to it. if you are going to put LTs on you should tune it. key word should

Ok gotcha. Thank you very much for the knowledge. My power level is over 9000 now for sure! I think I might pass on the LT's until I'm sure I can live without the comfy warranty.

What you need to look into is running a set of High Flow catted mid-pipes. JBA and SOLO make some. You should be able to keep the warranty and pick up 15 or so rwhp and get a lot more sound along the way. Won't be the same as LTs but close.....for alot cheaper as well.

Do a search....there are threads about them.

are you saying that just putting on the headers voids the warranty?

it depend on dealership, but in most cases if you put LTs you will have a check engine light come on, and you cant just have that up at all time and expect the dealership to be fine with it. also if you wanna get rid of that code you will need to tune the car. and tuning it voids the warranty in most cases.

either way you void the warranty. you can get away with it if you take them off before you go in with out tuning the car. ( i believe )

think about it if you have a check engine light on and you blow your engine for some reason, chevy is going to give shit

possibly because of the o2 extensions? I read that the O2 censors is what causes the code to trigger the check engine light. Wow if I could manage to get the beasty sound of LT's without voiding my warranty I'd be happy!!
