First post here, been lurking for a while to get the feel of the place.
to all, as you all seem to be cool and collected. My first trip will be to take the wife home and drop her off, then i will hit the Pacific Coast Highway down here in So Cal and cruise along the beach with the windows down and the tunes up. |

Thanks for the welcome, I tend to stay further south, through orange county then inland using the 74, which is one of those beautiful roads into the hills, that every driver loves.
I think the twisty road you mean is Topanga canyon, which is also a very cool drive. |

I think Solo too... maybe with the girlfriend if I have one then, lol... or just with my pops. But I think I want my first drive to be solo for sure.

I'd want it to be with the wife and all 3 kids, but without some modifications, I don't think the car seats are all going to fit back there. So, it will probably have to be solo.
First over to my parents house, drop the kids off, take the wife for a ride and let her drive it back. Then I'll take my dad for a ride, maybe one or two of the kids can go along at that time. Then if mom wants to go, she can get a ride too (she's not as much into the car thing as the rest of us). If not, over to the in-laws house (they're only about 6 blocks from my parents). I probably won't race the father-in-law any time soon...his 911 Carrera should still beat the Camaro, but my brother-in-law drives a Cayman...maybe I could take that....we'll see. Then over to my brother's to show him the baddest member of the family. (I'm wondering if his Camry will just piss itself in the garage when I rev up the Camaro in his driveway...lol...he thinks that car is something else....). Then I might take each one of my kids out on their own ride...(still trying to spark that interest in them, so give them their own little bonding experience). Then, take an evening ride on my own. Well, that should only be about $100 worth of gasoline that night.... |

Mine is gonna have to be solo...at first, then I'm gonna go pick up the nonbelievers who don't believe that I'm getting this car lol
and then drop them off in the middle of nowhere for wanting a challenger over this

First ride is solo, going home from the dealership. Even if I do have a GF at that point I won't let her with me for the first ride, that's all mine. I don't want anyone to disturb me as I cackle with glee at the sound of the V8 as I floor it up onto the highway!
After I get home, definetly a ride with GF if I have one, if not then my dad is the first one to get a ride in it, possibly I'll even let him drive it a bit....possibly It's only fair that he'll get to drive a bit though, he's the one who planted the love of American cars in me as a tyke.I did however suggest that we should have a race at some point between my Camaro and his Honda bike. He's confident he'll win. I think he shouldn't be so sure

Power to weight. The camaro would need to pack about 7 times as much power to equalize the ratio if its a sport bike, 5 or so for a cruiser. Sure there is alot more to it than that for a drag race. In the turns, you'd be toast, I imagine.

^Thing is I'm pretty sure my dad has overestimated the power on his bike. Sure it's way quicker then his first one but it's pretty average actually. Has a top speed of about 150 mph.
Probably won't happen though, my mom would kill us both

Actually a good car will out corner a superbike (due to contact patch being greater, thus giving more traction)... but the bike (because of it's power to weight ratio) will usually stomp all over the car on the straights, as it's able "usually" to accelerate much quicker!!! |

I don't know about all that. My bike was a beast in the corners. I could take corners at well over 100 MPH that a car couldn't pull 60 out of. I guess it has a lot to do with the rider.
I know, I know...

Well to continue off topic, lol.... A bike will 95% of the time be quicker than any given car. I'm a rider my self. Its when you start getting cars that are sports tuned and there pulling corners like crazy and doing times that are at the 4 second mark for 0-60 is when they beat bikes or get close to them.... A few years back on topspeed they had a Lamborghini Gallardo race a Ducati 999.... they were exactly a match to each other in lap times. But I do recall that the Gallardo would come OUT of corners much quicker than the bikes because it had more contact patch to the ground whereas the bikes wheelie a bit when they come out of corners.
