Road Rally Races ?

Anyone ever done some rally with their Camaro?

Where would one go to get the ressources if they wanted to do this kinda stuff?

This is something i've been thinking about a lot lately as summer months are getting closer and closer and it really is something i would like to get into but even tho any clown can google i want to view opinions from fellow Camaro owners.

Thanks!

Define rally. Autocross, hill climb, road rally? or WRC?

Well it's probably easier to say not the rally that are done on dirt roads/ice/snow. The more gentler and civilized kind done on pavement. So road rally would be closer to it.

Im with Bliss ^
Autocross is difficult in the Camaro because its large and heavy but the car is built to handle the stress of a road race! however any sort of off road racing is kinda a big no no < and if other C5 members find out you might end up like this guy. If you wanted to do some off road rallying you would need the 18" heritage rims, a lift kit, proper tires, and hope and pray that you don't hurt your front bumper.

No no no. Not talking about racing here but Road Rally, Touring with stages.

Anyone seen the top gear episode were they buy some old cars and enter a rally on the Island of Majorca? Those kind of rally/touring.

It's Mallorca, not the English garbage of Majorca. Wife is from there, well from Europe but lived there for a long while. First time I ever seen it spelled Majorca.

Not sure if anyone really does with Mustang cars. Maybe more for cars with smaller engines. Plus, real men do real races, none of this rallying stuff.

Then you know little about post war road rallying. Google "Erik “on the roof” Carlsson" to see what real men racing looked like. And look into any of the myriad of small rally circuits to see what a privateer team looks like, and tell me those aren't real men.

Your local SCCA chapter likely runs TSD rallies. I think these are more what you are looking for.

I know there is going to be a track/race day in Spokane in August if you feel like a road trip. More than likely there is something closer to you though.

Are we talking about something like the Gumball and Bullrun? Paul and I have had multiple discussions about the logistics of taking part and even putting on our own. I dream of attempting the Cannonball Baker Sea-To-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash. Highly irresponsible but you only live once. Maybe one day.

A rally is a time, speed, distance contest conducted within the law on public roadways. In days gone by, the route was marked with paper plates attached to telephone poles. The time and distance was computed by a navigator passenger using a Curta calculator. The cars participating in the rally were normally top down British sports cars. The gents in the car wore snap brim hats, tweed sport coats and smoked a pipe.
To call a rally a "race" is incorrect. Like above, the Sports Car Club of America is the best source for rallies today.

You mean the Cannonball Baker Sea-To-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash? Officially, no. But it never was very official. I know where to start and where to finish and I know I need to beat 32 hours and 51 minutes. What else do I need.
