Weren't LT1's (Fbody's) only rated at 275hp?

Indeed. How well are Juan Pablo Montoya and Sam Hornish Jr. doing in NASCAR?

Being a great surfer doesn't make you a great snowboarder.

I love this thread

First most road racers are not good drag racers and vice versa. While everyone thinks it looks easy it's not.

I have and will powershift my Camaro without lifting off the throttle. Getting the car to te best 60' and then shifting is the key as you all know.

I have drag raced stick shift cars for the last 10 years. I mean RACED not just test and tune or on the street.

I should be able to post some numbers in late March. I should be able to have my car at the NMCA opener in Bradenton Florida on March 27th through 29th.

I will have dyno numbers as well before we run at Bradenton.

Stay tuned.......

Robin

The G8 GXP is 13.0 sec in motor trend not 13.3 the 13.3 is the G8 GXP LS2

I think talking about racing an IRS car with slicks and breaking parts is funny. Most people on this site haven't ever ran an IRS car much less one with slicks. This is not a F body and it will not run like one. Running slocks on most IRS cars is not comfortable and can be down right dangerous. Look at the number of gto's and the number of g8's that have tried it and won't do it again. These cars both lane walk terribly.

i drive like Robin i never lift off the throttle unlike 95% of people at the track....and i powershift as well....if i didnt tell you you would think my cars were auto...my first 10-15 passes will be me just playing with shift points to see where the fastest mph is....then work on getting the car to 1.8-1.9 60's on the stock tires....let air out of them....then when you have found optimium launch and shift points and power shift the car...a few drivers will be hitting low 12's to mid 12's and with drag radials low 12's to high 11's at probably around 110-112 mph....slicks definate 11's drop the clutch at 5,000 at least and power shift probably high 11's at 112-114 mph.....all in all this is going to be a much faster car than the mustang and cobra in my opinion...since this sunday most shelby's were only running low 13's??????

As far as I know there is no LS2 G8 GXP. Did you mean L76 in the GT: 6.0L 360 hp?

The 13.3 @ 109 mph was from Car And Driver in a 6M GXP with LS3. There is no GXP with an LS2.

You picked the wrong example with Juan Pablo Montoya.

In his first full NASCAR season in 2007, he won the Infineon race at Sonoma, in a field of 43 drivers. You don't win a NASCAR road race unless you are a good driver. He had 3 Top 5 finishes, and 6 Top 10 finishes.

Sam Hornish is a better example than JPM.

Haha.

Listen, the original poster made a statement like, "LOL, the guys at Car and Driver can't drive." I was just responding to that. He didn't say "they can't drive properly at a drag strip" or something like that. He said "they can't drive." I'm just saying they can drive, and if he or anyone else has proof otherwise, I'm all ears.

Some guys think that the magazine drivers were picked off the street. Most, if not all of them have some pretty heavy credentials.

You also need to mention that most if not all of them never come close to the best posted track times for a car.
