There cant be that many '11 RED 1ss's in your area. So when he sees you, maybe goin 5 over the limit, what do ya think the chances are he's gonna use discretion and give you a break? Maybe you can show your cell phone picture of him to him.
Relax, not all cops are dicks, give them a chance and you might find that we are even human. A word to the wise though, cops have very long memories, treat one like a dick and you can be sure he will respond in kind if he can.
You didn't catch the part about him trespassing i guess. This is ok how? Because he is an LEO? Anyone follows me to my front door in a private gated community is a dick. I don't care if it's an LEO or not. He had 2 miles to pull me over and or pull along side and admire give a shout out before he entered through the gates right on my ass the entire 2 miles right to my driveway. Your theory makes zero sense in this situation and you know it. Don't make excuses for a fellow LEO in the wrong. Be human as you say and simply admit that ain't right.

As i have said many times i have friends who are LEO's. My neighbor is a trooper. I don't hate cops in any way but, i do have issues with people like this regardless of a badge or not. As for being in his jurisdiction and going 5 over. Well if he catches me doing that then i deserve the ticket so it's all good. But, he follows me in here again out of his jurisdiction with no cause we will see how funny he thinks it is the second time around. Citizens have rights as well and i'm more than ready to enforce them.

PS just because someone owns a Camaro doesn't mean i wan't them welcoming me to their family at my doorsteps. Ever see that show worlds scariest police chases? Remember the dude in the black gen4 SS who blasted the cops through his windows while burning out with an AK-47??? Do you want to welcome him to your "family" as well.??

all about the attitude quite often

I learned a long time ago that you sometime create your own bad situation. If you start out giving off attitude you will quite often receive the same back in return.Don't get me wrong there are definitely some a-- h---s out there from all walks of life.I have found myself in those situations a few times & had too quickly realize that it was not going in the right direction. I had to back off & step it down a few notches to salvage the situation because I knew that I would be the loser in the end. I have been followed occasionally but usually what I will do after a few miles is slow way down and pull over to the far right side & usually I get passed. We drive awesome cars & get lots of attention both good & bad.Comes with the territory. No one notices Honda's , Yugo's ,VDubb's, escort's etc ,at least not very often.
Now take a sexy looking machine like we drive and oh well you get it-MAGNET

I guess things in the sunshine state are different than here in Jersey, if you call the cops cause you need them, who comes? Do they have to ask permission to enter the gates? Forgive me, but I dont understand your PS analogy. I was just sayin maybe he was a C5 forum "family" member. Certainly not sayin that everyone that drives a C5 are upstanding citizens. They even offer cards on this site that you can printout to introduce folks to this forum to place on people's cars. I was just trying to say that if perhaps you said to him, "what's up officer, is there something wrong?" You might have made a friend for life. You assumed that since he followed you to your door step, he wanted to do you wrong. Is it remotely possible that you don't know the whole reason he followed you? Is it possible that maybe a car like yours was reported stolen or involved in a crime and it was taking the DMV computer two miles to give him the information back off of your plate? I never said you hated cops, cause your neighbor is even a trooper!, all I said was give him a chance. If he screws ya, well then complain all you want. Like I said dude, relax.

I have no idea how NJ works but at least here where i am. The only cruisers allowed into my neighborhood are the county sheriff dept or troopers. Not, the local PD. I do not live within their city limits. We are not part of his city. We are our own "city" without a police force. Hence the reason the county comes in. We again on Jan 4th this year voted NO to allow local PD into our community. We do not observe the local city ordinances either as they don't apply in here. They have never been allowed in here since inception. Florida has many private gated self contained communities that are not part of the cities they lie within or border. Kinda like a city within a city. I am originally from the north and was pretty new to this whole thing when i moved here 10yrs ago. At any rate, no he wasn't allowed to come in and should not have come in. There was no emergency and he easily could have requested to have a county car check me out. This is why i had a problem with him being in here.

And i am relaxed, just not when people trespass where i live.

Be lucky that you aren't a BMW driver or worse yet, cops, who are consistently profiled as assholes. lol

First, if you commit a crime and then "flee" to a "private community not within that original jurisdiction," the cop CAN follow you in there and arrest you or do what he needs. Should he need the county to come out, he will get them. Does he have the right to follow you? He sure does. You may think he does not, but he does. Acting in a lawful position or not, he CAN follow you. There's no invisible line that says DO NOT CROSS!!!! CAUSE THERE IS AN INVISIBLE LINE!!! Please, man...

You can't jump to conclusions.

There are so many factors that play into policing. If you have a problem with it or have some ill preconceived notions that all cops are assholes and they all break procedures, etc, then get off your @ss and do a ride along with one. As a member of the community, you have the right to put in for a civilian ride along with an officer and see first hand what these guys go through. You think they are all so bad? GO. DO IT. DON'T WHINE AND GET YOUR BUTT IN A SUBSTATION.

You think I'm joking?

I'm not.

I'm very serious. I'd like for you to see what happens.

And, with regards to why he followed you two miles? There's a million and one possibilities.

Maybe he just wanted you to know he was there...and was trying to prove a point.

Maybe he was waiting for the DMV license plate return to come back and it was taking a while.

Maybe his aircard computer connection was taking even LONGER than normal or lost connection all together and he was waiting for it to come back on.

Maybe he had no computer and was waiting on a person on the other side of his radio to get the info on your plate.

Maybe he was following you developing probable cause to pull you over

Maybe he had an inclination that you had been drinking and was trying to develop more reason to pull you over...and didn't have enough at the time.

Maybe he was just headed somewhere in the same direction as you.

Maybe he lived in the area, was going to run an errand, and decided to swing by to do his thing

Maybe your vehicle matched the description of another he was looking for...

There's a million possibilities of why officers follow people for distances...and one of the other most important ones? He was following not stopping because he is waiting for another officer to show so they can both pull you over together..cover officers...you know...safety in numbers?

Police work is a thankless job. WE make our calls. We get complained on to IA for trying to help people in accidents and then they even call the chiefs office because they think that we are involved in some relationship with the other driver since things aren't going their way. Dude...it's nuts. We do our jobs. Sometimes people don't like the outcome. That's just the way it goes.

You might be in a private neighborhood, but remember...there's usually a lot more city guys around than county. And, county has a much greater distance to cover when making calls vs city. So, when you want someone fast...cause you are at work and someone is breakign into your house while your wife and two kids are home alone, you won't give a crap who is responding...you just want someone NOW.

Now...look into a ride along. You might find it amazing...

In Nj that would never happen sorry tag but your brothers are not so nice here i know what cops go throw trust me i know, But there are too many stories of cops shotting cilivians and getting away with it. But on the other end we throw the book at ANYONE who attacks a cop.
If im not mistaken is this what our fathers left england for.... Funny how we have come full circle

I've come to the conclusion that cops just get bored sometimes...I've been followed a lot in my Formula. After several turns and it's very obvious that they're following me specifically, I have just pulled over and (if they stop-many times they just drive by and mean mug me) I just ask them if there is a problem and ask why they are following me. They are usually just baffled that I noticed and they don't have much to say...After the brief convo I then tell them to have a nice night, and let them drive away first.

I've even had cops follow me through the drive through ATM at the bank in the middle of the night.

(and no, they did not use the ATM)

I just want to point something out as it seems this entire thread has gone way off what I originally said.

I was angry because this guy was NOT a cop, he was a Federal Agent of some sort.

I am friends with many cops, and I work with many as a firefighter. I have the utmost respect for the NY State Troopers as they have always treated me fairly and courteously despite how many stupid things I have done in the past.

I didn't mean this to turn into cop bashing as I have no problem with cops (in fact if this putz pursued me I was going to call the NYSP because I know I can trust that they will treat me fairly and get this guy off my case).

My Point, Federal Agents should stick to their jobs, they are not cops, they aren't paid to figure out if someone is street racing, its not their jurisdiction, and they have no right to detain or bother someone for something they they aren't even 100% sure happened.
