Why not take your 2SS and add a super charger and be ahead of the 550Hp that the ZL1 will have and still be under value of the new 2012? You can do this for $7K at the most.

Thats one thing I think of with my 2SS, but the ZL1 goes beyond a motor upgrade, the drive train is upgraded. The tranny, Diff, clutch, axles, wider tires, drive shaft, brakes, plus the LSA engine compression ratio is more boost friendly and not to mention fully backed by a GM warranty. So for me if it comes in at about 50K thats about ten thousand more than the MSRP on my 2SS, that is not bad for what you get, and the person who sold me my 2SS has guaranteed me in writing pricing with no mark up.

Voiding the warranty and many other factors are the reason why I didn't go this route. To each his own if they did though. I just would rather buy a car that had it equipped from the dealer so I don't have any issues with it then of course the other added features the ZL1 will have and the 2SS will not.

How about this...MSRP on a 2011 2ss/rs auto, sunroof + 2011 CTS-V 2 door M6 standard seats divided by 2 = MSRP base ,actually quite loaded, M6 ZL1.

And the Corvette vs Camaro pricing thing, as ive always said, is irrelevant. Corvette people buy Corvettes, Camaro people buy Camaros. There's a thin gray area there where a few people compare performance and price but for the vast majority people who come to buy these cars already know which one they want before they compare facts, they'll never step on each other's toes
I agree. The styles are completely different. As long as they remain separate and distinct vehicles there will be factions for each.

People may think that's a lot for a Camaro but I think that's a pretty dam good price. I mean look at the GT500 price range....

I paid under sticker on my 2010 when it came out and I was the first one that arrived at my dealer when I ordered, so why is it hard for you to believe the same won't happen this time around.

Point being, just cause you have stupid dealers in your area doesn't mean the car can't or wont start at a base price of 47-48. Like its been said all these features are from other cars and the R&D has already been spent prior to this car so its very easy for them to put the whole package together and sale it at a similar price of the GT500. oh and by the way my dealer has a 2011 GT500 on the lot going for 46795 and no markup, sooooooooooo.
Well... I guess its all specualation on every ones part on this thread. We will just have to wait and see.

A stock z will stomp a mudhole in a ZL1 that I prormise you. Make no mistake I love the ZL1 and would buy one for 47k but not a penny more. I think dealers will be in for a rude awakening trying to mark this thing up because anyone with a half a brain would say " F you I can get a zo6 for that price" Sure the first ones out will sell with a mark up but I am betting the mark ups dont last for more than a couple months if that.
Im with you, if im going to be paying anywhere around that. I might as well just ask them for a Z06 instead. I already know dealers are going to mark it up here though, hell 2010's are still going for $40k or so and to me. I figured with 2011's on the way, 2010's should lower a bit and nope. Still trying to sell them for $40k or so.

Didn't read the thread past the first post......

I have yet to see C & D show up at a Camaro Team meeting........

Take what you hear on price with a grain of salt.

UPDATE:

My point here is this:

The Team continues to work on this car - meaning the developmental work -- to get all the details just right. How do you price something when you're not done?

Pricing is always one of the last things done on a car. True: you have a target in mind, but anyone who gives you a price on this car is guessing (in most cases with little or no real knowledge of the content and percentage of 'specific' parts .....meaning those being unique to the ZL1)

I certainly don't want to dampen your zeal for what you see - but I also don't want someone out there thinking: 43K!!!!!

I was kind of referring to the ZL1 stuff would all be under warranty... instead of doing aftermarket stuff.

OPPss

Looks like 47K was wrong,,,and it won't be under that for sure,,,,so

Better figure upwards a little bit more, like 55K

I get your point but you have to take into account all the other upgrades your going to have to do....

- Suspension Mods, to get the power down to the ground.
- Possibly upgrade your rear end to handle the new amount of power
- Upgrade Transmission, it'll give after awhile
- Engine (bolts ons, heads & cam, etc.) Upgrades, to get the most out of that supercharger

Add all that up and your close to $20k in mods, to a what? $40k car you already bought?

Like others have mentioned, the ZL1 has more to offer then just a supercharger, 550hp and a LSA engine. But if your just looking for the horsepower output, then yeaa i agree with you. Just slap a supercharger on your ls3 and you'll be close.
