Okay keep us informed. It's like night and day. Good luck. And they do have the lemon law here in FL. I just signed the papers last week on this car.

I don't think any state has a 30-day grace period. Some states have a 3-day cooling off period, but you're already past that. The car is now yours and you must trade it in or sell it if you don't want it anymore.

Unless the car meets the definition of a lemon, this does not apply. Having a car legally declared a lemon is an arduous process. Dealers are highly resistant to doing it--they'd rather see you as a happy customer with a trouble-free car.

Best case is to just go back and ask what they'd give you for the car on trade and see how much they're willing to move on an SS.

They only gave me 21k for my 2LT/RS with 11k miles. It sure was worth the trade though. The v6 just isn't enough for me with such a heavy car.
If you do, do it sooner then later. Now at least you have max value, havent made a payment and - any depreciation, get your down back to put against the new car.
I just looked at it for fun and mine is over a year old worth about 23, owe 16500 so I get only 6500 of 15000 down to use on a trade in. to keep payments the same and be at the same owe amount would cost me the 6500 and another 16 or so. for a 2ssrs, not to mention lost $ in mods done. Then theres about 7000 in gas over the next 10 years( i keep cars awhile) Not worth it at all!!

I keep seeing more and more of these threads on here. Some of you may remember me posting a thread on an upcoming purchase of a 2lt 6a last month. Since then I have done a few test drives of both the V6 and SS, and now I'm a hair away from convincing my wife to just go for the SS.

I'm in the same camp of those who think while the V6 is still a potent car, I'll still be left wanting more. I have to admit I loved the V6. Thought it had plenty of power. That was until I drove the SS.

I have a feeling if we don't get the SS, I'm either going to be trading it in a year from purchase and taking a hit on trade in, or spending the difference in price between the two modding the crap outta V6.

What to do...what to do....

I had some mods too, which didn't give me much upon trade-in. I was able to keep my payments the same, adding 3k more down on my 1SS. The gas mileage is only 1-2 mpg less than the V6, and if it will make you happy and completely satisfied with your car, it is more than worth it IMO!

i'll admit i looked into it, and in the end it made absolutely no sense financially.

trade in a car i still owe money on, they give me about 20k for it if i'm VERY lucky, then put the difference toward a car that costs 5-6k more than the full value of the one i traded in???

you end up losing a lot of money. it's like paying 45k for the SS in the end. i don't have money like THAT. 300+ horses is fine with me for that money. OP, if you wanna really ball-out, save your money up and enjoy your V6, and in a couple years go hard with the ZL1. that's what i hope i'm fortunate enough to do.

I have a deal to trade today for $1800.00 out the door plus all rebates go to the dealer. I know you want pictures. They will be posted if the dealer does not make me mad and change the deal

If you "mod the crap outta the V6" you will kill your warranty. I'd suggest just getting the V8, as you won't have to mod it to get the performance you want and thus it will still have a full warranty on it.

My wife went through the same thing you are now. In 2008 it was time for a new car, and she wanted a Mustang. She said if she got the V6 she knew she would just not be happy with it and every month would regret sending in a payment on a car she wasn't fully happy with. But if she got the V8 her payments every month would be higher, but she would have the car she really wanted. She went with the V8 and is happy with it. Every now and then she complains about the payments, but she always says she is glad she didn't settle for the V6.

Yeah, thats kinda what I did at the dealer when I bought it..i was like..." I know im going to want an SS after I get it" dont get me wrong I love my 2LT its just..well ya know, SS has got the edge..im actually thinking of saving as much as I can and try to get a ZL1, or by that time SS's should surely go down in price, financially..i think my car fits with me. For now, thanks for the input guys

The "SS" urges are not going to go away..... TRUST ME.
I have had my 2LT/RS for 1.5 years now, and I cant resist the call of the V8 any longer. Currently pricing out my upgrade......

Trust me, don't do it, This site is bad for this one thing, reading all these post just makes you envious of the next guy and his car, You knew when you bought the car that was all you needed. Are you willing to lose that much for a couple of online pat's on the back?
